90° tyre valve adaptors?
Eyup folks, just wondering how you get on with filling the tyres with air at petrol stations with the standard straight valve's, i keep meaning to check tyre pressures but then i dont wanna look like a tool trying to get the tyre inflator on to the valve. Is it best to just buy the 90* valve adaptor thingys or is it easy to inflate with the standard straight valves? and i presume the valve adaptors dont affect wheel balance? i know they wont weigh much but idve thought that any if the wheel rpm is fast enough it could be noticable?

I have seen 90* valves for the wheels, why they don't fit them as standard I don't know, because using a garage airline with the standard wheels and disks is a nightmare. Worse with GSXR front discs :| |
Re: 90° tyre valve adaptors?
may have to just use them and then remove them maybe.. iv'e heard of people getting 90* walves fitted to the rims if/when they get new tyres fitted but ive only just got some on so could be a while before theyre due to come off. I was only wondering as ive not checked the tyre pressures in 6 months ish, i got the new tyres fitted before i bought the bike so i dont know what pressures the fitter's used either, maybe time to invest in a tyre pressure gague and somr 90* adaptor jobbies.

Re: 90° tyre valve adaptors?
I did mine at a garage a few months ago, and whilst awkward, it wasnt difficult to be honest.

Or, they can crack and let the air out overnight, when you are away and have no air pump at hand - D'OH!! :D Quote:

Re: 90° tyre valve adaptors?
16 inch wheels on a fireblade make it interesting but not impossible. The shortest valve tubes work best for me as it gives more room to get the inflater on. Some inflaters have a double ended head which will work on of the two ways.
TPs are often on the chainguard or under the seat on a sticker. In in doubt a dealer will have them too. |
Re: 90° tyre valve adaptors?
Just buy a Tiger. It comes with angled valves as standard!
Not helping am I... Pete ;) |

Re: 90° tyre valve adaptors?
My Daytona's got 'em too!
Nice one Triumph. In seriousness you'll get the knack of doing it with the standard valves. I remember when I started riding finding it a bit of a mission. |
Re: 90° tyre valve adaptors?
the S4 has them and the Superduke had one on the rear, I got the front one changed from a straight to an angled one at the tyre change, so now both are the same, does make life easier.
Cheers Mark. |
Re: 90° tyre valve adaptors?
Good morning all.
Screw on 90 degree adaptors a supposed to be removed before riding. I've seen plenty of rubber valves that are seperating because of the weight of the angle valve, & centrifugal force. Use 'em & take 'em off afterwards. In order to replace the standard rubber valves with the 90 degree type as fitted to Triumphs you will need 11mm valves & not 8mm as shown. Also £26.99 a pair!! I'm doing them at £6 each when fitting tyres. Cheers. |

My Daytona had them as well |
Re: 90° tyre valve adaptors?
The Tuono has a metal valve so can't bend it like other bikes making it near on impossible to do.

That looks like a bad case of Brewer's Droop :( |
Re: 90° tyre valve adaptors?
Cheers for that peoples, i think ill just have a bash at filling them up as they are and see how we go, seems like a lot of faffing about screwing the adaptors on and then removing them every time so i may give that idea a miss. And it looks like the top tip of the day is, if you wanna blow ur tyres up easy, just buy a triumph..
