Arlen Ness 2-piece - any good?
I've been offered an Arlen Ness 2-piece, in black, white and blue kangaroo leather. It's a year old and is in really good condition. No scrapes, bumps or funny smells and comes with knee sliders and loads or armour. No back protection but I'm going to buy a separate thing anyway.
These were £600 new and the boy wants £250. I've never heard of them but they're a great fit. Anyone have an opinion? http://tapa.tk/mu/6d9ad313-ee64-361a.jpg |

Pretty sure Speedplay has an Arlen Ness suit, looks like pretty good stuff

They're good, but the zips are a weak point. I had mine for 2 years and I had the waist, fly and main jacket zips replaced over that time.

Is £250 good value for these then?

Re: Arlen Ness 2-piece - any good?
I have absolutely no idea what a good fit should feel like. The sleeves seem bang on, in that when I put my arms into a riding position they don't ride up and sit just at my wrists. The jacket is slightly tight accross my chest when I'm upright, but again, when I'm in a riding position it's fine, and there's no tightness accross the shoulders or back.
The trousers are a good fit on the waist and go down to my ankels and don't feel too short or too long. The only thing that feel really strange is the knees. There is a bucketload of armour in there, compared to my textiles, plus they have sliders. So the knees feel really heavy and bulky and also feels like they're sticking out a mile, but I have no experience of wearing leathers so this may be how it's supposed to be.... |

Yup, I've got the 2 piece magnesium as one of my suits and really like it. Comfy and seems to fit me well although, I still prefer my berik 1 piece. £250 seems a little high though as I picked up my top end suit brand new for £500 with a waranty. The ones in the pic may only be a year old, but they look like old stock by the style of them. See if you can knock him down a few quid ;) |
Re: Arlen Ness 2-piece - any good?
the right fit is the most important thing or the correct level of protection won't be offered anyway regardless of quality..
i have a berik 1 piece suit in kangaroo leather, paid £500 brand new. so you could try and knock him down a bit and get yourself a bargain. kangaroo leathers are alot lighter in weight than cowhide leathers as well. |

berik and arlen ness are made in the same factory
