K&N air filter.

Booked into the garage next week for a service, going to fit it all at the same time so I can check the fuelling is correct with new air filter / exhaust combo.

Can't wait to hear / see it.

Also popped to a local shot blasting / powder coating company to find out how much it will be to blast and coat my rear subframe, heel guards, rear peg holders etc.

Has anyone had this done? Do you remember roughly what it cost?

Take it easy

from a local company my rear sub was done for around 40 quid. make sure they look after your holes and threads correctly or it'll be a bum to refit.

Edit....maybe a little more, as I had two rear subs done and I think the front too.

Nice once, cheers. Is there anything in particular I need to do to the holes and threads before I give it to them? Or just check that they are gonna block them off?

A nice added surprise when ordering an exhaust!

block the holes with the threads you want to protect, to remind them to do it properly, or you have to mess up the powdercoat trying to sort them out. I think they filled mine with some sort of rubbery things and they just pulled straight out. Its been a few years since.

Re: New Bits!

If anybody is interested, a local company 'Swifco' said as an estimate that the rear sub frame would be £40.00, the rear peg hangers and heel guards (not sure if thats the correct term) woud be £15.00 per side. The fork yokes would be £10.00 each and the outer fork tubes would be £20.00 per side. The wheels would be £45-60 each dependent on how easy they are to shot blast, and if I wanted the finish lacquered or not. And they aim for a 72hr turn around.

My local powder coating place did
Rear sub frame
Rear peg hangers and pegs
2 torque arms
Front peg hangers
Brake and gear pedals
End caps from the swingarm
And the pegs and hangers off the raptor

Cost me £90 all in.

They filled all the threaded holes with something (dont Know what though)

I would do but they're a proper old school place and don't have a website!

That sounds about the right for a subframe.

They covered the pillion peg hangers with something on mine but if I refit them I will tap the holes just incase.

Might be worth getting yourself a wee tap and die set as they come in really handy.

Are you having bike set up on a dyno? If it is a race filter it will run too weak unless you jet up to suit.

I had planned to get it done, just not straight away, if that is the case I shall hold off on the air-filter. With regards to re-jetting, am I incorrect in thinking that as mine is an 03, pointy that it's fuel injected? So would need a remap as apposed to rejet?

Yes.

It's in the garage the morning having all the new shiny bits fitted. Can't wait to get it back and go play with it. I shall post pictures once it's fitted. Told the insurance about the mods and there was no extra charge on the policy itself, but they won't cover the cost of the parts added in a crash. The only bad bit was £25 to make a change to the policy.

Couple of suggestions....

Don't forget to tell your insurers about all the changes from standard that you've made. Otherwise you'll no longer be insured most likely.

When you're taking the rear sub off take lots of pics of every stage so you don't miss anything out or re-thread the loom in wrong on re-assemble.

I've got a Fuel on my K3 - sounds 'wicked' according to my biker sons. It certainly turns heads :-)
