If it's a 2004 its probably the mk1 focus so in whhich case you'll need to change the stereo to have an aux in.
Have you got a picture of the stereo?

Then the only way that you can play an MP3 is usuing an FM modulator. Plenty of them on the market. You set the radio frequecy on the modulator, plug in your MP3, then tune your radio to that frequency and roberts your dads brother

Something like this the only other thing that you will need is a short lead to connect the MP3 to the Modulator

Re: Ford Focus Car Radio/CD Player

There is no aux in for that stereo, Viney is correct the only way is with an FM transmitter and tbh they're not great still suffer from interference though.
I'm using a tunebase one in my mondeo and it does the job but hte sound isn't great.

Next car will have a proper aux in/ipod interface stereo in it. Can get stereos fairly cheaply now with aux in but then you'll need some ISO leads, fascia panel, a lead to plug your mp3 in and if you have steering wheel controls they wont work unless you buy a more expensive stereo and then you need patch leads to connect the ford plug to the stereo socket

Here you go a cheapy from Halfwits
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...egoryId_165474

then you'll need the leads etc which if you buy from ebay will cost about £10 at the most

I have a Harmon/Kardon Drive & Play for my Pod into my head unit. It does have Aux in though. Also i like the idea of having the screen and controller handy.

With those hard wired ones, can you still use the radio i take it that it just joins 'inlin' with the aeriel into the FM socket.

Also do they need wiring to a power supply?
