Idea for tank design.
After looking at my plain tank on my YSR125 I'm trying to figure out what to have on the tank that's unique and to my own personalization.
After I've put filler on it and sprayed it glossy black I'm thinking of having this triforce design http://www.minhstory.com/wp-content/...9/Triforce.jpg but in white and possibly airbrushed if I can get it done cheap enough. Think it's a good design? P.S. I've chose this because I love gaming! |
Did I not read in a previous post of yours that'll you we planning to do you full licence? Meaning that if you are, you will surely be looking to sell this fairly soon...

Re: Idea for tank design.
Why not simply get it done in a vinyl/sticker. Easier, cheaper and removable if you don't like it

Where on the tank are you thinking of sticking it?
On the side? |

Re: Idea for tank design.
If you choose to go with vinyl stickers, go with this guy. Chalkie. He's brilliant, he can transform a bike for much less than a spray job.
Send him your design and he'll draw it up for you for nothing to see how it might look, |

Re: Idea for tank design.
TIB, those look bloody nice! How long do vinyl wraps tend to last? Was considering getting my SV wrapped instead of respraying certain bits; just use some tuch up paint and go over with vinyl, but not sure how it would look.

We are Based in Hinckley, Leicestershire in the east midlands... and for the fitting service you will have to bring your bike/car to me for the fitting service He did some bits and bobs for me and what I liked was that I only gave him £40 of business on my old trackbike and he was really enthusiastic about everyting I wanted and made me feel "special" naaaarrr.:eek: |

Your fella is very lucky haha. I like the design, but I wouldn't bother, as others have said you will want to p/x it for another bike when you get your license |

Never thought itd be appealing to men especially because all I do is go to work then sit at home in m nerd den playing games haha! But yeah I might just give it a miss then :) because I don't want to go all the effort for if I sell it because knowing me I'll get a buyer who turns around "why is there triangles on the tank" that will lead to me face planting him! :) |

With the tank I'd suggest finding out what the bike's worth and deciding if thats an amount of money (less at least 10%) you're ever gonna be prepared to part with it for, if not then go for it. If it is then go for the vinyl wrap or leave it because the more unique you make your bike the more you narrow the number of people that will want it. |

Well the bike is nowhere near standard! I've had the rims, frame, tank, headlight and seat customised either by colour or made by the guy who I originally bought it off. The tires aren't standard either there's one nobbly on front and a normal tire at back. The only thing standar on it are the back indicators. I need to get my straight handlebars painted and tidy up the electrics and clocks and then I can start focusing on the tank. P.S I bought the bike for only £500 (well my boyfriend did as a Christmas present) but its a lot better looking and tidier than when I first bought it. If I DO come to sell in a few year and I've had the triforce painted on then worse comes to worse ill get it stripped and re-powder coated! |
Re: Idea for tank design.
I was in Eastleigh on Friday Night/Saturday Morning and can say the best thing to come out of the place is the M27 :p
As for the design, its your bike NOW, don't worry about resale etc, just do with t what will make you happy :) Of course, if its easily removable (Vinyl/Stickers) then thats even better. Might be worth haveing a quick chat with Paul the 6th to see if he can do you it as a sticker type transfer :) |

How much do the transfers last? I was originally going to get two stickers of pin up girls for either side of my tank to match my helmet but I struggled to find some that'd look good on the tank |
Re: Idea for tank design.
Well this (which is basically the same stuff as Paul would use) has been on the SV since Easter 2011, went for a Tron Legacy thing :p
http://www.chaoscrypt.com/pics/SV/stickers-dark.png I used retro-reflective vinyl, so it does this under direct light (or the flash on my camera in this instance. http://www.chaoscrypt.com/pics/SV/stickers-light.png Should last a couple of years at least. |

Tron legacy has got to be one of my favourite films and go have a custom bike which is inspired by it is purely immense. |

So more necessity than custom job. When I get round to it, the custom job on my SV is going to be soooo nice, putting it back to red, but with some nice touches :) |

I'd try and tempt my boyfriend in doing his whole bike like this in blue and mine in orange but he would tell me to feck off lol! He thinks I'm too nerdy at times :( |

No we don't, my SV was my first big bike, and as shes been in the family since new, and I know exactly where shes been, shes staying put, and I've had one or two additions since! I love that bike. ;) I always go back to her......even if the VRap is a far superior ride, hey, even the ZZR can't push her in a corner :D |

Re: Idea for tank design.
Not really.
I only saw it in the late 90's, still thought it was good (but then I remember 80's computer games) and still think the plot is better than the new one. |

I saw TRON at the cinema on original release :) It was the 1st film I saw without a parent taking me (my older cousin took me) So I would have been about 9 when I first saw it :) |
