Hard Rock Calling on Friday

Anyone else going to see Soundgarden this Friday?

I tried to get some cool wellies to wear, but as we've already had so much rain everyone has sold out and I've had to settle for a kids pair from Sainsbury's. Not very grunge eh?

No I'll be there on Saturday for 'The Boss'

They're trowing down tons of wood chippings to help with the mud, but I think I'll be packing my wellies after my Manchester monsoon experience.

I've go camo wellies

Yes I know, that was my point. If they'd said size 6 it wouldn't have made me comment.

I'm ready for anything now - apart from being able to see the band that is.

It was wet and muddy. The smell of woodchips was overpowering but Soundgarden were amazing. Chris Cornell is hot. If only I could have him covered in chocolate custard.

Same here, stopped raining for the early part of the set list, Tom Morrello was pretty good, Lady Antabelum were also ok, John Fogarty also ok?

Bruce never fails to deliver, and apart from the usual songs from the current album, there were plenty of nice surprises, with guest appearances from Tom Morrelo on several songs, John Fogarty for another, but the biggest surprise was Sir Paul McCartney for 2 songs at the end! Never to be repeated.

On a sour note there was a lot of overly ****ed up people, picking arguments and fights with folk, who were there to see the show and the sound quality wasn't good on the right, so we moved to get away from some of the hassle and watched it on a big screen, where the sound quality was better.

I'm glad it wasn't my only Springsteen concert of this year, although the show was one of the best and most interesting, the atmosphere wasn't as good as the others I've been to, not by a long way

Cornell can wear anything he likes and he'd still be the ultimate sex god.

And I hear Westminster council pulled the plug bang on 10.30 last night, even though Bruce and Macca were mid song. This is the same council who turned up with the noise abatement team at McCartney's wedding reception last year. His garden backs onto Lord's and it wasn't us who rang and complained!

Not quite mid song, as they'ed just finished Twist & shout, but it was just like someone had turned the volume down

Mucho confusion on stage & in the crowd.

Boris was quoted on the radio saying, if Mr Springsteen had come to see him, he would have looked into extending the licence to 11 or 11.30

Doesn't happen on the continent, and the curfew is often ignored.

Sounds like a jobs worth somewhere, if I was the Boss, I'd take my concerts elsewhere and my 80,000 fans elsewhere in London to spend their money.

Quick update here, highlights from Hard Rock Calling will be broadcast on Sky Arts on Aug 17th, including the infamous turning off the sound on Springsteen & McCartney, well I'm sure that bit will be edited out. :toss:

http://skyarts.sky.com/music-festiva...k-calling-2012

So Paul Simon, Soundgarden, Iggy Pop etc etc, muddy park, wellies, crap sound as well
