I was thinking of taking up the sport until I saw this..

I've changed my mind knowing that the wife would take the P***.

Oh dear is 28 the new middle age? Done the full lycra cyclist thing. Two years ago I bought a sports car* then this summer got my bike license and bought an SV.

*to quote a good vlog from youtube by a dude who rides a Hyabusa. "Yeah thats my Rouche Mustang. Its kind of exciting... I guess"

don't mind mamil's when they are in a line its when they take up all the road and think they are in the TDF that pizzes me off. its the attitude of them that really gets me. i admire any fool that wants to ride a pushbike for 30+miles. yes your a road user so the rules apply to you to.

Excellent, I found that well funny. True from the mates I know that cycle.
Bizarrely the mates that cycle the most are the fattest of my mates.
Dunno why, they cycle loads, maybe they stop more at Cafes en route than they tell me???

no they are that fecked after cycling that they end up vegging out in front of the telly or playing games with beer and snacks.

What like hurtling down the Hartside pass at 45+ mph and understeering into oncoming traffic doing 60+ after they've had a 'healthy' chilli and chips or fry up*

Rant over

*This doesn't apply to all middle-aged men in lycra

Re: Mamils

I'm not sure what i'll do when I reach middle I have done most of it already. Anyways I'd rather be fit and healthy, than rather than my fatter unfit peers. Weighed myself a few hours ago 65kg, or 144 pounds.

Skinny git! :D I wouldn't want to be chasing you up no hills, but us fatties would have you back on the descent ;) (Currently 87KG :( :( :()

There should be a "Mamil and proud" logo for Mike, Fizz et al to have in their signatures.

Nothing wrong with a bit of Mamil ;-)

I'm 35 in 4 months! I'll fall into the mamil category! Haven't even got a motorbike at the moment, what's the world coming to.

That sportive looks good Mike, I didn't know about the Vitus ones, I'll have to keep an eye out for them next year.
I'm looking forward to mamil-hood - by the time I reach middle-age I'll have been cycling for a few years so I should look good in lycra by then! ;)
