Underbike heater ?
Visited an old boss of mine who has a fireblade. He has it under a cover or two ( specialist bike covers) . Underneath the cover he had a sort of 'light' heater under the bike , constantly keeping it nice and warm.
He's on hols now for a few weeks , and thought i'd ask if anyone has seen these or knows where to get one. Might get one to stick under the bike while its in the freezing cold garage . any help appreciated. |
Not the same thing.but in Norway with the Army many years a go, we had a plug on the side of the engine block you could attach a lead and run a heater element to stop the oil freezing.

We used to fit block heaters for cars sold in Canada. I seem to remember they had sockets next to parking places.
As for an underbike heater, I presume it's intended to minimise condensation etc. Since it's just a low wattage heater, why not use a simple inspection lamp and fit the bulb of your choice (the output all ends up as heat eventually). Available from most car accessory or tool shops, less than a tenner. It's safe and the cage should ensure the covers can't touch the bulb. You could also run it off a simple timeswitch, again only a few quid. |

That's a really neat solution embee AND will act as a deterrent as my bike is under cover on my drive  |

Nah, blue's known as a cold colour :)
Timer switch would be a good idea though, that way you're not just leaving it on all the time. |

How do you guys with "outside bikes" make them go? I left mine outside for one night last week and it took a huff, took ages to get it to start... It was absolutely baltic, and it didn't have a cover, but still...

I've got a low wattage heater that i keep on through the winter, about a 1p an hour running cost.Got it out of Argos, keep's most of the metal shed dry and keeps most of the dampness off the bike.Right now the problem is that the inside of the roof get iced up then the heat turns it into water again, but when it's that cold i put a cover over her to keep her dry.P.S once a week i make sure that she is dry under the cover, if not i take the cover off and dry her.Good luck :!: -5 tonight up here. :?

Jsut found these on the b&q site.
now the question is what wattage to get 120 http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/produc...&PRODID=174905 or 240 http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/produc...02&paintCatId= i'll be putting the bike under a dust cover in the garage and the heater under the bike... any issues anyone can think of ? oh and have it on timer for a few hours a night with a an hour gar inbetween. |

You could try a garden centre for a greenhouse heater, they will have a lower minimum setting and most likely to have a timer attached. Should be waterproof too.

A friend of mine has similar kind of thing under his Harley.
