You can't use LED's on the clocks as the light isn't uniform. You can swap the neutral/fuel/main beam for LED's but its not a 2 second job unless you have the fairing off, and even then 1 x 10mm led doesn't provide the same light output for each.

If that is so, can you please explain the link above.... :?:

I'm pretty sure on the FI models LEDs are what provide the backlight for clock and screen. 8 of them, according to the description for the replacement ones.

thats what I thought.. the only other option is to put a filter behind the window, but me thinks that would be poo :)

snoopy 13-12-04 07:40 AM

People have already done this and said it doesn't work, I'm only going off other peoples comments. To get the light uniform you need a transparency deflector (like what mobile phones use).

bobbydee 13-12-04 12:50 PM

ooooooo gotcha..

Grr- don't get wide wi me, Thumpa! As far as i'm aware, you can't change 'em on the original bike, so I fitted the Glowgauges set instead- the light up stick-on dials. And very nice they are too. The tach one's acting up a little, think there might be a loose connection in my ropey fitting (one of the first mods I did on the bike, and I was scared crapless that I'd reset the odometer or something...) as it sometimes goes dull and occasionally goes out, but apart from that they're great. Not worth £60, mind, maybe worth the £30 that I spent but then again, maybe not.

Swapped your cams yet?

northwind 14-12-04 08:11 PM

Course I haven't! :) I was going to do it yesterday, but my PC broke and all the directions were on it... So I did a load of tidy-up work that I should've done before, hid the scottoiler piping and relocated the reservoir, adjusted the idle screws on the carbs, stuff like that. Actually cleaned the bike properly. Well, some of it :)

I may do the cams tomorow. The pipe's coming off the bike and heading off to Zorstec to have a road-legal baffle fitted on thursday anyway, so I might as well get on with it. The whole respray project's foundered though  Not done half the prep work I needed to get done in order to get the spraying done this week...

I suck. But I have done quite a lot of other things to the bike, y'know :)

I have changed my Busa clocks to Blue and they look really cool the SV ones are even easier as there are only 6 backlight Leds on the K3 and K4s not that hard to do if your carefull.

bobbydee 15-12-04 11:40 PM

Any pointers than Bruce

Brucey 19-12-04 04:55 PM

The SV one looks a little trickey as the needle on the rev.counter is not as robust as the Busa so a little bit of care is required removing it you then have to unplug the lcd display panel which is also a little fragile but once these are out of the way swaping the leds is quite easy I plan on doing my SV clocks over the Xmas Holidays so will try to photograph as I go so will have a how to do it pictorial not sure how to post it on this site though.

Carsick 19-12-04 05:11 PM

A howto for it would be cool, I've been wanting to put blue ones in mine for a while.
To post on the site, probably best thing to do is get all the pics and the description together in an html page (or word document if you prefer) and then email it to john, his email will be on the front page somewhere.
