am i doing it wrong? slightly dodgy question for the lads

lads:

just got the svsk3. when i am on it, my .. ahem .. nads are pressed right into the tank and it gets a wee bit uncomfy.

do you push your **** back against the seat hump to give a little extra room, or do i just grin and bear it? tried doing this but seem to slide forward again.

sorry for the rather base level of questioning but i need to know!

Will, in a certain degree of discomfort......

vtwinner 18-12-04 10:36 AM

I push away from the bars pushing myself back to the seat hump, I do bang them on occasion but they are extremely large

lol toes on the peg, push back slightly from the tank and grip with your knees that might help. or get a pillion who will protect you with their hands

Just be careful when you wash the bike, I found if the seat was too clean I would slip forward involuntarily,

rukus 18-12-04 10:46 AM

I just sit with me goners against the tank... I find it adds support

What, you mean you're not packing the odd pair of socks down there?!

If you don't have a pillion I suppose you could always were a cricket box... or consider starting a singing career as a Castrato!

Ahem, anyway, I have seen clear knee grips whick stick on to the sides of your tank. Some racers use them to increase grip when hanging off the side, but they're just as useful in stopping you sliding forwards.

Can't remember where I saw them though - I'll go have a look.

I used to do alot of horse riding - we had sticky bum jodphurs with to stop you losing your position, perhaps they do "sticky bum" leathers   either that or as Kate suggested a cricket box!!

ahhh

just been out for a run down to kingston, quick bit of chrimbo shopping and back up the A3. i like this bike vvvvvery much. not much to compare it to mind you, various scooters andf a crappy honda cb250!

anyway, tried different positions and found it more comfy, thanks for the suggestions.

does anyone else's get a big thump from the front forks when going over bumps on her majesty's "finest" black stuff? does not sound right, but may be they all do it.

velcro on yer **** and the seat

that'll solve all problems

They all bump! there's various theories as to why they do it, but no=-one's quite sure..personally I think it's the headlights, or the clocks bouncing against something. Others will say it's the headbearings, some the forks

I find that if I let my leathers sag just a tad it forms a sort of "net" across that protects the lads from dammage. I sit right up against the tank, so when I hit the brakes the pants absorb most of the force. I suppose you could go with a suede seat too......

coombest 18-12-04 08:41 PM

Until you've done this....

I don't think you're in any position to comment!!

Before my little 'incident,' I never really had any problems... I would find things a little uncomfortable from time to time but that was generally from sitting too close to the tank when I sat on the bike in the first place.
The clothing you are wearing also seems to have an effect... Some leather is more grippy than others and fabric stuff doesn't really grip much at all...

You will probably get used to it though!!

Carsick 18-12-04 11:26 PM

The thumping from the forks, fraid they all do that.

They don't all do do it but a fair amount do with the standard suspension components.

A change of fork springs and oil plus cutting down the spacers to suit your weight will transform the way the front behaves and make the suspension bottoming out (which is the clunk) all but disappear.

As per

[1] Sticky bum patch on my bike strides cured it for me with the exception of involantry stoppie which resulted in three adams apples
[2] Had my stock bearing tightened and turned up my front suspension which cured 80% but I still get a clunk in certain conditions, common complaint
