Zom-b-dog 17-03-05 11:48 PM

I've rubbed my finger over the dials and I took a cotton bud to the ignition, so that's nice and shiney!

It's the details that count. :D

Not yet, but I will be. When I had the tank up recently to balance the carbs it was bluddy filthy. The bike looks reasonable on the "outside" but I know it is minging under the surface.

diamond 18-03-05 08:16 AM

This weekend it's gonna get some well needed TLC.

Viney 18-03-05 08:17 AM

Iansv 18-03-05 08:34 AM

Yeah, once i've done a fix so I can ride it again i'm giving it a thorough cleaning tomorrow :D

fizzwheel 18-03-05 08:39 AM

spring clean... can i change that to just clean

Sid Squid 18-03-05 09:13 AM

It doesn't look like this anymore, it's mostly back together now, but I've got a few things to finish off first, a couple more new bits 'n bobs, then it'll get a proper clean.

Sid, while its apart like that you might as well jetwash up inside the dirty looking pipe sticking out the back. Get it cleaned up a treat. Just a tip for you there

Cloggsy 18-03-05 09:17 AM

How many mods can you make to an SV?

zx6man 18-03-05 09:22 AM

Voted No....coz it never gets dirty.....

wyrdness 18-03-05 09:35 AM

I threw a bucket of water over it yesterday. Does that count?

I haven't spring cleaned it yet, but that's a job for this weekend.

Well, I started with a smaller but more powerful and torquier* motor, then I added better, more adjustable suspension, (Ohlins rear shock, Ohlins springs and modded dampers up front), and better brakes, after that I decided the original frame wasn't up to the job, and then to suit that different bodywork was fitted, then I thought it could do with a paint-job, and finally I wrote a cooler name on the side of the tank.

Oh and the original clocks don't have a...erm...clock, so I got a set that tell the time too.

*Yes it is before anyone regurgitates the old chestnut about fours having no torque - The ZX6 makes more, but to be fair, the SV curve is flatter.

Will get a clean when the salt is off the roads. Until then it's all just damage limitation with wd40 and hosing the salt off.

Bud 18-03-05 12:31 PM

Have kept mine clean throughout the winter, but have just noticed some black paint flaking (but can't remember where now...somewhere near the engine!!).

hall13uk 18-03-05 12:49 PM

wheelnut 19-03-05 10:22 PM

northwind 20-03-05 02:49 AM

Mine got thoroughly cleaned on thursday, then again today... It really needed it :) it was filthy when I got laid up and it's got worse since, but I couldn't move it till now so it had to sit and fester. I don't think it's been so clean since the day I bought it, and I'm still not done :) I'll get the rear off tomorow and get the shock out while I'm at it I think, get in there and clean up all the really manky bits that never see daylight ( )

To the dirty minded: "It" in this post means "my bike".

Moo 21-03-05 06:59 PM

Gave the bike a good clean at the begining of March after riding to Scotchland and back.
