Mounting for TomTom

Got a new TomTom GPS system for the car. It is only small and portable, so I am trying to figure out a way of mounting it on the bike (tank or something?) for use whilst riding. Can run the earpiece inside helmet. Any ideas on how I could mount this folks???

Would this be TomTom on a PDA, or TomTom Go?

I want to try and figure out a way of mounting my PDA with TomTom on the bike (and a way of powering it... without blowing up the bike electrics and / or PDA...)

TomTom Go, making it a bit bulky and difficult

The GS guys use this guy a lot. Not sure they do a TomTom one but contact him direct and he will offer solutions.

Cheers, ill get in touch...

Just got in touch with RAM and apparently a bespoke mount is in production but not out yet. Ill keep my eyes open.

MavUK you may wanna check out the RAM site as the pictures look as though their mounts are designed for PDAs and such like.

Look interesting. I'll have to give it a better look when I have more time. Only concern is still water proofing the thing...

Yes, the waterproofing issue for PDA's is being addressed too I think. There was discussion about this on www.ugser.com in the forums section on GPS.

I know its a BMW site but those guys are mad on GPS so just about every eventuality gets discussed :D Must say i fancy a Gramin iQue (a Palm PDA basically) and RAM do a mount but as yet no waterproofing I think (which must result in a different mount I guess).

You dont mention if its an 'S' you intend to connect the tomtom too? I too have the same idea when we go touring this year - I hope to mount the tomtom in the fairing, and link the audio via radio so all the party can listen in. It involves some modifications to the tomtom audio files to lift the radio vox, and a few other tricks, currently I'm trying to find the most suitable arrangement for the headsets for the party to wear, I have modified a couple of those mobile phone ones that are simply an earplug with the mic as a small bead in the wire, but still could be improved.

what about putting the PDA version in a tank bag. You don't always need to see the pda as long as you have the audio files (with headphones of course) talking to you when it comes to turn.

Its an S. I have tried to mount it in the fairing but so far to no avail. Your radio idea sounds great but i think is getting a little complicated for me. If you do figure it out though let me know...

Thats a good idea but I have the TomTom Go and not the PDA version. I might leave the tank bag fairly empty though and see if i can put the device in the map section and then, as you say, just link up the headphones.

If Tom Tom wants a lift, why can't he go on the back like anyone else?
