Which crash protectors with lower fairing?
Hi folks,
As I have just bought some new lowers (thanks Jon) I would like some bobbins to protect them a little. I know that protectors are mainly for the engine/frame etc but I would cry myself to sleep if I had a slow speed spill and messed them up :( . Does anyone have any recommendations for protectors to be used with lowers? They will probably need to be fairly long to offer the kind of protection I want. I understand that I will need to cut the lowers a bit, that is not a problem. |

Depends which bike you've got really... I've got Bikeslides on mine & they are superb, but you will have to cut the lowers to fit them :!:

R&G
I have R&G's. They are quite long- but I don't know if they will protect my lower fairing as I haven't dropped it yet! (Touch wood) :o

wayhay somone from brighton :D
i would recommend R&Gs for sure the new one's that cost £90.00 are top notch. |
R&G's
Yeah - they're the ones I have - look okay too.

I read somewhere (probably on here) that you don't have to cut the fairing with the new R+G's. Is this right? :)

Cheers all.
If the R&G ones dont require me to cut the fairing then I will probably buy those. I can find them for £70 http://www.performancemotorcyclepart...sh_bobbins.htm Do you recon these are the new ones? Or does anyone know a good place to get them? |
BTW my SV is a 2000 model. Does this mean I cant get the new ones for my bike and will have to cut anyway?

Nah, there's a new set for the carbed one as well. Butt ugly but effective :)

They're also a better design I think, and because they're higher up the bike it reduces the chance of it rolling right over the bungs as can happen with bungs on the middle engine bolt like the old R&Gs or Bikesliders. On the down side, they're effectively not quite as long for the same reason. I doubt they'll give full protection for your lowers in most crashes, to be honest I doubt anything will. |
