You're 17... I personally think that if you're looking for about 600 then you're on a different planet. Having said that, I don't know what your location, location location is.

I'm afraid at your age... you're going to just have to live with it! :(

Saint Matt 09-06-05 11:10 AM

One of my mates has a bandit 600, 1yrs ncb for 600 fully comp, i know its possible, and he lives in a much worse area! I live in derby

BillyC 09-06-05 11:16 AM

Bandits and SV's are very different bikes.

Comparing insurance is a very difficult thing... doing so assumes an entirely logical approach to calculating premiums. In reality, it doesn't work like this

The SV is group 10/11 depending on who you talk to. Remember that if it suits the insurance company, it's a 600+cc sports bike (it's got an S in the name), and therefore premiums for the under 20's should be high.

Biker Biggles 09-06-05 11:17 AM

Try Bikerline direct 08707707712.
They were best for age 18 full license 125 cc North London 2 years ncb.

suzsv650 09-06-05 11:26 AM

RIGHT! im 17 too 18 in july tho and i also have one years no claims two years in july hehe

but my insurance is £450 but then i got 3 points so they wanted £90  so its a litle more!

that is with carol and nash they are good! but expect a hight EXs mines like£400 i think...

that is a garaged 02 model SV with no alarm, i realy would recomend them they are cheep

but as big bikes go they seam to be cheeper my mate on his CBR125 is paying £1000 and another mate on his CBF500 is paying£800

so i seam to have got a good deal! ring up carol and nash

0800 298 5500.... realy good!

BillyC 09-06-05 11:29 AM

I think it's worth noting that yours is garaged... I wonder what the premium would've been had it not been?

jaysv650 09-06-05 11:30 AM

damn....

Saint Matt 09-06-05 11:31 AM

Yeah mine will be garaged, and im only after tpo so an alarm etc wont make a difference. cheers for the numbers, i will get it down to 600!

Matt... I think to comment on your quote, you need to give us a lot more information:

- what year is the bike?
- where is it?
- garaged?
- security?
- how long have you had your licence?
- how long have you had your CBT?
- points on your licence?
- annual mileage?
- car licence?
- accident history?

All of which are massive factors at any age - particularly yours.

Saint Matt 09-06-05 11:42 AM

Score! £445 tpft. and to answer your questions billy,

Bikerz 09-06-05 12:08 PM

Biketeam.co.uk or bennets.co.uk they are the best.

Adrainflux or footmanjames.co.uk were best for me at 17 on a CBR250RRL just passed test were £297 Fully comp BARGIN :D

Stormspiel 09-06-05 12:12 PM

I'm 19, got a 99' nekked in black and pay £320 for TPFT with 1 yrs NCB. think i'm gonna try carole nash when it comes to renewal time though. Worked out at £500ish for Fully Comp but i was REALLY skint when i got the bike  .

I think you just need a better insurance company... I'm paying £550 TPFT with 1year NCB - in Central London!

adam 09-06-05 12:37 PM

Honestly I spent 4 hours on the phone and phoned over 90 companies. I'm 25, have no no claims, only held a FULL licence less than a year and it's parked on the street in UB3 which has more crime than central london it seems from upmystreet.com . It's the area, I'm moving to chesham, bucks soon and it's drops to £450 fully comp.

adam 09-06-05 01:07 PM

No garage. Parked in communal flats car park. £828 fully comp, age 25, no bike ncb, full car ncb (apparently non contributary factor, gits ) , full licence less than a year. SVSK4.

Ebike just done me a quote for £350 for a brand new K5, not garaged, no NCB, Licence less than a year, 3 points on my licence and written off a car 2 years ago. Fully comp. Gotta be happy with that.

Luckypants 13-06-05 03:35 PM

Carole Nash get my vote too. Picked up 6 points as taxi driver last year but still £145 TPF&T or £180 comp on 2001 650S 3yrs NCB. Bike now insured and I'll be on the road when I decide what to do about my exhaust and MOT.

Godikus 13-06-05 05:14 PM

www.ebikeinsurance.co.uk about 700 tpft for a 17yr old with one year no claims in an insurance catagory B area

Bikerz 13-06-05 05:45 PM

Sir Trev 15-06-05 12:35 PM

It might make you cry if I said £175 comp with my wife as named rider then... Sorry.

36yo
accountant (profession makes a different on their risk calculations!!)
10 years+ protected ncd
garaged
High Wycombe
AlphaDot
standard bike (2000 curvey)

They obviously think I'm a boring middle aged Tory voter who wears slippers, has a Golden Retriever and uses the bike on sunny Sunday mornings. Er............

I'd recommend BikeTeam as they were miles cheaper for me. Call them though as they never seem to return e-mails or on-line enquiries.
