Which is your favourite gear . . .

Mine's fourth, most of the time, with occassionally keeping it in third, as that keeps the revs in the usable and flatter part of the range 6 --> 10 K

Any,as long as its got teeth.Im quite partial to seventh gear, that one you look for on the motorway

jonboy 12-06-05 05:48 PM

For me it's first. Just love pulling away fast from the lights and quickly popping it up on the rear wheel  .

well, all depends on whats around me and whats going on and where im at.

at lights, its 1st (no questions asked)

on a motorway, its 4th 5th or 6th depending on whats going on.

I still haven't been able to find 7th! Glad to hear I'm not the only one!

P.S. what is a "motorway?"

P.P.S. I'm JUST KIDDING! I know you meant to say freeway or highway. :P

Technique, honestly. Pull away in first and then keep it at 20mph for a sec then snap open the throttle. No I don't mean open it quickly I mean snap it open hard. The front wheel should then rear up and you've done your first SV wheelie. Do remember to close the throttle pretty quick though as it's easy to flip.

On both the SV1000 and the ZX6 exiting 3rd & 4th gear corners is a exciting affair.

Gotta be fourth for me

Saint Matt 12-06-05 07:38 PM

Second, well it was on the rs. Did 30 in first (which i thought was quite good for a 125) and with the powervalve opening it still shifted, so in second it still kicked pretty hard but you were going a bit faster, maybe 45-50 or so

RandyO 12-06-05 11:17 PM

I have 16/46 sprockets and spend most time in 3rd or 4th gear, but 2nd gear in the dragon is most fun

AlfBoy 13-06-05 12:27 AM

I usually like every gear, except first, provided I am around the 6500 rpm range, it always feels nice.

Red ones 13-06-05 05:25 AM

I couldn't find PVC as an option

6th is best on my airfield - cruises nicely at 100+

Godikus 13-06-05 06:14 AM

seeing as third seems to be the favorette. maybe suzuki should make an sv with 5 3rd gears

 sorry, i booked the taxi before i commented

Yup 4th for me too, when I am out with my mates (all on 1000cc machines) I find myself having to use 4th and 5th just to keep pace with them through the twistier A road stuff... 4th is great, loads of punch from low(ish) speeds... :D

If your restricted and want to go top speed then you get that out of 5th on my restricted, in 6th i just loose speed whenever there is an incling of a incline.

Other than that i like 1 at the lights, 2 at roundabouts, 3 most other times, 4 for that bit between 3 & 5 and 6th for when i cant be bothered to go anything above 70-80 on mway.
