Bulbs
Hi
I have decided that its time to upgrade the bulbs in my Curvy SVS I want to keep a road legal wattage anybody got any recommendations I have got some PIAA bulbs in my car which are awesome so I am thinking about getting a set of them for my bike to thanks Fizz |
Hey,
When I did my bulb upgrade, I believe PIAA was the best... but expensive. So I guess if your willing to spend alot on the bulbs, then go for it! I settled with the Philips VisionPlus H4s. Mitch |
So one also said silver stars are good choice... though I just have halfords ones in mine.. even they seemed better than the stock ones.
|
Fizz, i know it hurts, but as you are aware the PIAA's are fabby...however, i use Osram silverstars in my bbike and more than happy to be honest. But then we do have street lighting in london ;)

philips vison plus or blue ones get them for £18.99 for 2 bulbs + 2side lights they just as good as piaa but half the price??
PIAA over priceed if ya ask me |
Ok- its known that both the USspec and UKspec lights take H4's... but....
Anyone know what bulbs the non-UK/US spec headlights take? Spearsy just sent me one and I need to buy bulbs (he never used the light so he doesnt know either) Cheers! Dan from across the pond @ SVRider.com |

I just took a set of the Philips Visionplus out of my bike and put Silverstars in. The Silverstars are immediately and noticably better. To be fair the Philips ones were fairly old, do bulbs lose efficiency? They looked in good nick...
Free to a good home, for the price of postage. I'm still thinking I might go up to PIAAs. In fact, at the back of my brain is a little voice saying "Retrofitted Audi HIDs" but I'm resisting :) |
I've just put Phillips GT150s on my SV1000 - not the cheapest, but bloody good 8)

bulbs - my 20 cents
Mr Daniel Stern is fun to read as he rants about automotive bulbs...I love an opinionated cranky expert most times especially when he makes sense and points out flaws in US DOT thinking and has what he brags about and accepts paypal and answers emails.
http://www.danielsternlighting.com/ ...silverstones are exactly as good as the equivalent from other well known manufacterers, and old and dim is always bad. My advice? Get basic +30s locally or +50s. Want to spend more $ and effort? Rewire/relay them. I have not done this...I admit rewiring and relaying is more helpful in cars than bikes, and I dont ride much at night anyway. Still assembling carb parts and handlebars for my S, lights are next year. |
