Kate 27-01-06 02:10 PM

None of your business.

Yet another pointless thread I see.

BillyC 27-01-06 02:11 PM

More than my last job, and still never as much as I'm worth ;)

I'm contracted to 37.5 hours a week; I record about 40 hours/week, but probably actually work more than that at the moment.

Agreed, but I replied pointlessly too, just to keep things down to standard.

This is Idle Banter afterall.

Iansv 27-01-06 02:12 PM

Just got a lovely payrise but I'll never earn enough

diamond 27-01-06 02:13 PM

I'm in work for 37 hours per week i actually do work for about 3 hours per week hence i'm paid peanuts. Still i get internet access which is better than my dial up at home so there's always a silver lining to a crappy job.

Used to be. Im now heading up a new department all on my own - managing our sales pipelines, compiling data and reports for the accountants and directors. Feeding back to our account managers which of our consultants are under performing etc. Its interesting, but very...."dynamic" shall we say. Regulaly dont know if im coming or going.

Or maybe I earn so much that I can afford the time......

I was told by an old MD of mine that there are only 2 things that count in this world, Time & Money, if you have plenty of one, you can earn the other.

If you want more time, earn more money so you can take time off. If you want more money, work longer hours and be more successful.

Howmuch do I earn ? People tell me too much, my wife says "not enough", you tell me.......... How much you earn is relative to what you want from life and how much it costs you to live it.

you really need to learn about the heirarchy of management. the higher up you go, the less you do, but if things go wrong then it's your fault.

Again.. Steve the man of infinate knowledge speaks... :notworthy:

Only one point Jelster... TCR... Time, Cashflow, and Relationships. Most important. Very similar to your Time and Money... just with an added bit of wisdom.

Midddle management is responsibility without authority. Those at the top of the tree don't want you shaking their branches so you have no authority to do anything without their say so. However, when it all goes tits up it is your responsibility not theirs.

I guess I fit into your big salaries category, But I also work an average about 60 hours a week. I m on call 24 Hours a day every day. When once asked to justify my salary my response was "It is not what I do, but what I can do". When the brown smelly stuff start flying I am the one that suddenly is in demand. I support construction projects round the world that run into the hundreds of millions $. LDs on these sort of jobs get into the million bucks a day. Therefore pressure can be a killer. Families have to learn the job comes first.

In saying that I have worked in some interesting places, Mainly in the far east. But a 6 month secondment in Dubai was sheer torture

keithd 27-01-06 02:51 PM

i'm astounded this thread has got itself 3 pages!

i've not helped here have i?

d'oh.

Grinch 27-01-06 02:58 PM

1 million dollar...

-close-

chunkytfg 27-01-06 05:41 PM

contracted to 35 hours a week 4.6 days a week(shift worker)

More like 47 hours a week though averages over a year due to over time.

Basic salarie is £42K a year plus OT takes me to about £50K give or take a bit.

And i'm 24 years old working for the same employer i did when i left school at 16 and started my engineering appreticeship.

Carsick 27-01-06 05:44 PM

Probably already been said, but I earn somewhere between nothing and not enough. I'm salaried, though, so at least my laziness has very little effect on that.

Peter Henry 27-01-06 05:46 PM

Enough to feed my constantly ravenous son!

Filipe M. 27-01-06 05:46 PM

I earn very little money. So little that I can't even afford to pay attention.

ok, I'll get me coat.................
