Should he be banned?
31 points on his licence and no ban:
http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0...504499,00.html Should he have been banned? I reckon that they certainly should ban him if he commits another driving offence. |
 That tw@ is an accident waiting to happen
Someone gimme a shout if he comes North, I'll stay indoors :!: |
Yes he should have been banned, sorry but 31 points is taking the p*ss. You can bet your bottom dollar had he been a biker he'd have been well stuffed.

IMO he should have been banned for sure, he would of known the supposed hardships a driving ban would impose on his family so he should have adjusted his driving accordingly & not use it as a geat out of jail free card, afraid it's just another to55er playing the system, only a few days ago on here someone had put their bike up for sale due to the thaught of how would his family cope if something happened to him, now that to me is thinking of the family & hardships they could have. |
I think he's just been unlucky.
|

i think that he should of lost it, 31 points how stupid do you have to be to rack up that many? espically if yuor job involves u using your car/bike
what a TW@ |
Remember as Brucey says
The More points you get, the bigger prize you get Just goes to make a mockery of the system. They should give him a car thats restricted |
Did anyone get the name of his lawyer??????

Err, btw, he's only got one speeding conviction against his name and the points for that have already disappeared; the rest are insurance and license related.
Why does having alot of points make him an accident waiting to happen? Is it because he must speed alot to get them all? I speed alot and I know that most of the people I've ridden with do as well. A guy on VD worked out that he could earn some stupid number of points on his morning commute just by riding 10mph over the limit for the journey. That's hardly the crime of the century. I don't personally care either way whether he gets banned or not. From my reading of the article none of the current points were actually related to his standard of drivingl and presumably he's now sorted out his other legal issues. Edit: just realised that I read this story elsewhere where there was slightly more information. try here |
its not that he was speeding, it that he is stupid enough to get caught

The only difference between people with points and people without, is that they've been caught. Ive been stopped speeding more times than i care to remember. Not through cameras.. through patrol cars in hiding. Not visible in any direction... Lost my license now for some ludicrous length of time (yes it is my fault, yes i took the punishment on the chin and no im not complaining). Im merely saying that you cant say "... stupid enough to get caught..." when you get caught, it just happens. Like a flash. If you go through a camera, yeah - stupid. If the speed trap is advertised and visible, yeah - stupid. But if the speed trap is un-advertised, and NOT visible... it just happens. One minute.. . :riding: :D next second.. boys in blue are there and its :( But yes, i agree that on this particular case... 31 points.. he should not only be banned, it should be extended retest, one hell of a fine, AND id even recommend some custodial. Insurance and Licenses offences ridiculous... he should be punished. |
yes you are, joke
in some cases i can understand that it is easy to be caught out, (like cameras hiding round corners) but 31 points is OTT, but this guy must be doing sumit right to get away with it! |
<big flashing sign>Not all of his points are from speeding</big flashing sign>
|
i should of read the whole thing . . brb . .
|
right . . read it all now!
a range of offences they must be driving related to recive them! i am just saying that you cant be caught if you don't do anything wrong, if you do you need to accept the consequences, and you are stupid to think other wise, also you are stupid if you don't see the visable gatso on the side of the road, but getting pulled after being followed by a unmarked police car/bike i can understand |

Do I detect a hint of intolerance and the odd kneejerk reaction here? Our great nation is jam packed full of stupid people(I meet them every day  )but that is no excuse to demand they be banned from driving. This bloke may be a bit dim but is not a dangerous driver.

I'm more peeved about this bit tbh...

Should he be banned?
Maybe , maybe not :? :) Quote:

If he came up in front of me I'd ban him. Even though his offences weren't all related to speeding, such blatant disregard for the law is unacceptable. He had a go at defending his actions, which he is entitled to do, but FFS - being articulate, employed and remorseful isn't enough, and in my view is discriminatory.
And to follow up Jen's point, to not follow the court's instructions and produce documents, then expect leniency, is a bit bloody cheeky. For example, we had a kid in the other day who was driving on an international license and didn't realise he needed to convert to a UK license. He was just being thick and got let off with a fine and 3 pts and told to get a proper license. We also had some drunk drivers in, and every last one of them got banned because everyone knows you take a risk when you have more than a couple of drinks. I'm still learning the ropes, but the logic is making good sense to me. |
A concern of mine in this case is one of consistancy.
One rule for one and a different rule for someone else. |

....It was this offence that led to his latest appearance in court and magistrates accepted that court staff failed to tell him of the hearing so he escaped a further eight points. Miss Miller said: "He had just set up a business and he was going through some emotional difficulties." Cheers Ben |
it is easily possible to be in a situation where you lose your documents and be done for failing to produce even though you are perfectly legal.. unfortunately in the PC world we live in everyone automatically assumes that this man is the most dangerous driver in the world.. as someone said if we all had been caught for our 'offences' we'd probably all be on about 60 points. he has more than likely been unfortunate just like the woman who was caught 11 times speeding on the same road in one day when the speed limit was reduced by 10mph.
