Feeling Deflated

 was doing some work on the bike today...

rubbed down the lower fairing to get all the sctraches out (after my little Off),
and noticed the chain was a little slack, well VERY slack,
Luckily I bought a new chain and sprocket set on Saturday... ( I knew it need chaining soon.)
So started to change them over,
when I removed the clutch linkage at the gear box, I slackened off the cable..
thats when I Found out what dislocated my thumb in my recent off , the Clutch adjuster at the clutch lever was snapped but the black rubber kept it together..
anyway continuting with stripping.
Slackened off the engine sprocket using a chock of wood ,between the wheel and
swinging arm to lock the sprockets and keep the chain from moving, every thing going fine and dandy..
All stripped down, starts cleaning things up, replace rear sprocket, chain (endless one, so had to remove a link and put a temp split link in... as I was not going to take swinging arm off.
Still every thing going good.
When I was torquing up the Front engine Sprocket, I think to myself, "Just do the oppsite and stick said wood under the swinging arm through the wheel and locking the rear wheel and sprockets..."
every thing going good, got it torqued up and removed the wood chock...

thats when I hear a quite faint noise....

sissssssssssssssssssssssss, What's That I hear.

Sisssssssssssssssssssssssssssss..... No not a snake but... the

Bloody chock of wood had cought on the tyre inflation Shraider vavle and tore into it a little.......

So now have an unrideable bike....

This goes to show that even a mechanic working on his own vehicle mucks up with a big F.

Taking the car tomorrow, as taking the rear wheel off, to get fixed to put back on the bike to take the bike to get the Split link off and the new link Riveted over.

to say Im a little anoyed with myself is an understatment.

You're a grand chap, and one of your most endearing features is your honesty.

For that, I for one won't laugh at you.

Oi numbers, the British tax payer pays your wages. A soldier who who can't work because he is tired. What next ?. Get off you fat lazy backside and get some soldiering done.

You are just using your late night bender as an excuse to get the day off to get your bike fixed.

Good use of initiative my friend, deserves an extra stripe

Yeah, I thought that was a helluva lot of money too - but I thought it was just because I'm a Yorkshireman......

Captain Nemo 07-03-06 04:38 PM

it may have only cost £1.25 cash.

but there are other ways that a handsome young soldier can pay his bills
