Rather nice. But 020s on such a sporty bike?

.

valleyboy 19-03-06 09:02 PM

yeah, 020's on the back, and 014's on the front.. Im not complaining, as the rear has done 5500 miles, and has a few hundred left in it... Ive only had the bike sisnce late September  rear was put on for me after I bought it.. so its had a good innings and a few 'high speed' runs as well  no complaints with grip so far, as I havent even tried pushing it too hard yet, though have had the back step out on me once or twice coming off a roundabout! :P

Mr Toad 19-03-06 09:05 PM

Lovely, especially the first pic. makes the famous Kwak green really stand out.

ps - like the sig as well

GregK2 19-03-06 09:06 PM

Very nice. Especially in green - does this add a few bhps??!

Why not?

Nice bike btw 8)

valleyboy 19-03-06 09:13 PM

Not sure of the extra HP due to its colour.. it doesnt need the extra Ooomph anyway! It does turn heads though!

Its either an 020 on the rear, or a new tyre every month! and I cant afford to do that!

Well they certainly work okay but being sports/tourer tyres aren't best suited to a sports bike if it's being used as designed I would humbly suggest ;).

You have some strange ideas about sports bikes

jonboy 20-03-06 12:01 PM

No, I have some correct ideas about how they should be ridden ;).

.

Cloggsy 20-03-06 12:21 PM

Beautiful day... Nice bike... Nice can 8)

SSsccccccchhhhhhhwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet :!:

Flamin_Squirrel 20-03-06 12:22 PM

And how will fitting sports touring tyres affect that?

There's quite a lot of people who fit "sport touring" tyres to sportsbikes during the winter and if they commute on them. Commuting kills my BT014's within 3k miles. They're so soft the flatten off very quickly. However, now I have the SV, the 'Blade is going to get some very sticky rubber this summer....

Oh, nice bike BTW

It will limit the amount of available grip, naturally. For slowish, over-prudent riders it won't be a problem.

Whatever

But then seeing as you think SVs get out of corners better than sports bikes, I'm guessing you've never ridden one anyway

jonboy 20-03-06 01:46 PM

Wrong, I have  .

If you wish to continue your cyber-pugnacity, then here's a challenge: I'll race you along the A507, Baldock to Buntingford, with you on your banzai-fast Kwak and me on my SV, but just to give you a chance I'll go from start to finsh (and it's a very twisty and hilly road) with NO brakes, and still beat you  . We'll get Sid Squid to ride behind me and adjudicate.

Then on the way back we'll swap bikes and I'll give you a half a mile start - sound fair?

Well it's a road that you know well and he doesn't, and you have had your SV for a few years, and Jordans had the Kwack for a few days.

Other than that I guess it's fair

But I understand where you are coming from. However, like I stated earlier, commuting on very sticky rubber is bloody expensive.

Agreed, winter months are a little different, and sports bikes aren't exactly designed as commuters. But using it during the summer months for blasting along wonderful roads (as per it's design brief), I think you'll agree that sticky rubber is the only way to go ;).

Probably a set of Super Corsa's, but they're crap in the wet as they have no tread at all up the side of the rolling radius.

.

Flamin_Squirrel 20-03-06 03:24 PM

Thankyou Steve

As for tyres, look into Pilot Roads. My experience with different types of tyre is limited so you may want to see what others think, but I've tried to upset these tyres in the wet and dry and I've not succeded. They seem excellent

falc 20-03-06 04:43 PM

Winter in wales, I dont think Valleyboy needs super sticky tyres I think he needs tractor tyres

Very nice pics Valleyboy, looking good

valleyboy 20-03-06 06:10 PM

Aye, the amount of crudd on the road around here, I do need tractor tyres actualy! was ice on parts of the road near the 1st photo... on a bend as well.... :?

The can sounds good 8) you can tell the bike weighs a lot less with the Remus compared to the standard can..

I'll swap; come down to Barry. I don't get on with the people around here, don't feel like I belong and the roads are rubbish and the police are even worse.

The kwak in green definately looks good in sunlight. I don't know why, but I never really liked it in showrooms, but in the flesh on a bright day it looks incredible.
