:D hello guys ive been offered a m750 monster r-plate 13,000 miles really good nick reckon i can get it for about £800 ish,had a go on her she rides great :wink: its got twin stubby scorpion race cans on :wink: god does it sound nice :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

So are they any good,any help would be great cheers guys :wink:

not many people rate the monster, @ £800 tho you've got nothing to loose for a piece of Italian exotica, personally i like them.

Sounds good to me.I think the Ducatistas reckon the 750 lump is the smoothest of the air cooled motors and if it's in good nick it should'nt be too expensive to run.

Seems very reasonable price to me if the bike is in nice nick, and they have only clocked 13,000 miles in 8 years or something? So, it almost certainly been babyed. And he has a nice set of Scorp cans on it?

Yes they do need valve adjustments but not at every other junction as some might believe! If your handy you could do the valves yourself.Even the timing belts are easier on that model than you might think.Close to 95% of the service work needed on that bike can be done by any competant home mechanic. The running costs if you can shop around for your materials make that look to me....a great buy! Do it! :wink:

99 750 Monster on eBay, current bid is 3500 dollars. Not exactly the same bike, not same currency, but, all the same, 800 pounds seems very reasonable.

I was just speaking to the owner of a 999bostrum yesterday, it was the first time I have run into this guy in a couple years and our conversation was about the miles that I have on my SV and that when I initially bought it in 99, I almost got a 750 monster instead,

he asked how many time my valves had actually been adjusted (twice in 124k)
he figured with his experience with Ducs that I would have made between 1 and 2 dozen adjustments with that many miles on a M750

if your the average 4k/year rider, it's only 1 adjustment every other year

The wife loves her 600 monster, so a 750 at 800 quid and runs... snap it up. And if there are problems, ebays a great place.

Get it, even if the motor's dead the rest will break for more than £800.

At that price, I'd work on teh assumption it's ****ed... There's really no other reason that the bike would be that cheap. Full HPI workiup is needed for sure too. Good check of serial numbers etc of course.

But if that's clean, get it.

Randy...The 999 is a 4 valve per cylinder motor where as the M750 is just 2 hence the more user friendly maintenance. I have read many forums where Ducati owners of all kinds of models have stated that although their valves had been checked at the required periods,no adjustment was actually required.
