Possible weekend stay in Wales at Cwrt-Y-Cadno
 

Right, as mentioned in another thread, I need ideas for dates....

And just to let you all know, I have reccied the road from the A40 towards Cwrt Y cadno.... there is a petrol garage a few miles up0 the road... AND (stretchie will like this one) IT IS MIND NUMBINGLY TWISTY! you cannot lose concentration for a nano second, it is possibly the twistiest road I have ever been on.....

I have been out since 5.30 pm, and just got back at 9pm... I have found that the caffe at Llandovery is also open till 7.30.. and guess what time I arrived :? and that all the toilets are shut at that time as well :evil:

BUT THAT ROAD!!!!! :twisted:

Oh, more info.. right, the place that we would stay at, if I can get confirmation I can do this.. its an old school, thats been converted into somewhere to stay... it has a kitchen and an eating area, and beds.... very quiet part of Wales

its a few miles off the A40, not all that far from Llandovery, and that means its next to some of THE best biking roads in Wales.. will try and get more info etc myself shortly.... will post up then when I receive it

Well, I have no preference on when I want to go.. I dont require permission to bugger off on my bike ;) at all.. ever :lol: May June or July :lol: will se what dates people throw up, and see who can do what etc..... end of May is the S&WS rideout, so will have to see about early June or July.. dont particularly want it to be in middle of school holidays.. as the roads will be full of caravans then :lol:

Very quiet part of Wales.... Until 16 V-twins and 4 loud in line 4's roll up with panniers full of BBQ and beer.. :drink:

i may be up for this depending on work and a few other things, how secure would the bikes be?

I'd be up for this either late April or well into June or July. I'm leaving Aber for good at the end of May but money will be tight till the end of June.

As for bike security, I'll leave mine unlocked if you want, then they'll leave yours alone.

Im coming to wales next weekend :D Not sure if im coming in the car or bike yet, its all weather dependent ya see :D

I love the A40! Would love to join up with you guys, I'm free after the 13th June (exam day!), so will make the effort if it's after then.

My other half will join us too, he's also got an SV.

this is in the middle of preverbial no where.. population.. very few! :lol: last time I remember, there is a big gate.. I think that can be locked, and can keep the bikes round the side, so not easily seen...

Right, Ive had a quick word with some people.... and it looks like we have no real problems with booking this...

We need a minimum of 8 people to do this...

The only hard part is, as its owned by my old school.. they have certain rules on who can book and use the place.. mainly Welsh speakers... so slight problem there.. which is easily gotten round.. me and my mate speak Welsh... and it will be his dad that opens the place for us anyway as he has keys to the place :D
If I remembr correctly, his parents have offered to come along as well, and do some cooking for us. There is also a local pub that we can bimble to as well... we arent allowed to **** off the locals either ;) so no revving engines at silly o'clock as the entire valley would hear it :lol:

Now to the best part.... cost.... I will try and re-confirm.. as it sounds stupidly low... but about £4 per night too expensive for you lot ?? :lol:

plan would be, get there on a friday afternoon/evening... ride the saturday, eat/drink/bbq etc in the evening.. recover sunday morning(ish) bimble off home... :lol:

all we need to do now, is agree on a date....

Right, bringing this subject back from the almost dead.....

I have been back down there, still got a few questions to ask the peeps who will be doing the booking for us...

We need a minimum of 8 people to book this place, and its £4 per person per night... which gets you heating, warm water, electricity, a roof over your head... and cooking space etc.... I dont know the maximum amount of people it will hold, but I 'think' it may be up to 15....

Location... a few miles out from Llandovery along the A40... the place itself is an old school.. local population... hardly anyone.. a few farmers.. and thats it... this is in the middle of preverbial no where.... its just off an unclassified road... only traffic you will meet along it are likely to be tractors and farmers etc.... and as its only a few miles off the A40.. that means we will be within some of the best biking roads in Wales.... plenty of directions to choose from and get lost!

as for what will be possibly done?..... arrive on friday evening/night... sleep over... Saturday.. bimble around on bikes.. routes to be determined as we make them up... saturday evening.. get back and have a few beers/BBQ etc.... my mates parents have possibly volunteered to help with getting some beer/food stuffs there..... eventualy get to sleep saturday.. sleep sunday morning off.... and then pootle back off homeward bound... :lol:

date to do this? possibly early to mid June OK with people?? I need to know whos interested before I even consider booking this.... as said, I need a minimum of 8 DEFINATE people to book this.. hopefully we can fully book this one up... :D

weekend beginning fri 23 june is likely to be the only long weekend i have

Sounds tempting, will need to check dates with work, a busy time of year..... when pondering a job change :) I'll have to start saving up my pennies n all.

Can you put me down as a possible, just about to start new shift pattern that involves covering 12hr nights one weekend a month :roll:

My life is empty so any date is suitable at the moment.

Ive got to get my bike sorted first....

thats currently in bits in the garage... contemplating dropping the engine out to do one or two things... could all end in tears... actualy, it will all end in tears! I know how my luck works! :lol:

edit: not dropping the engine, I need a special nut to undo some of the engine mounting bolts... damn it all.. they make taking your bike appart hard work! :lol:

I'll plonk up some dates.. AFTER my bike is all fixed... no point in me even thinking of booking something if my bikes all buggered.... I have no intention of cycling up there!! bungee cord anyone? :lol:

Back on topic deoubt I'm up for this as life gets complicated the further we get into June and I'm away a lot of July :D

I need to at least get my bike half sorted before throwing a date up.. and as the mechanics dont even know what could be up.. that spells trouble for me :? give me a few weeks to take the bike down to the frame, check the wiring etc.. and then I may be in a position to put some dates up.. :lol:

Bringing this back from the dead, any more news on this. I've been cleared to ride the bike by my doc now, so I need to put some serious miles on the clock and run it in. So any idea of dates VB?

Its going to be either later in this month or mid July... my insurance is due up 23rd July... so would like to get it done way before then... gotta sort out new rubber for bike first.. then we can have a gander at numbers/dates etc.. I will try and check what dates the place is available for by end of week..

Actually was up around that way yesterday. Mea nd a mate went to Abergavenny bus station, then headed for Brecon but kept on till we got to llandovery. Loverrrly ride it were. :wink:
