Chicken strips - lets see yours

Thought it might be quite amusing to see how everyone's chicken strips are keeping, or should that be more to see how wide the wear strip in the middle of the tyre is at the minute!!

Here's a beauty of mine about 20 miles after fitting my new tyres, happy to say that the strips are slightly smaller now :D

This is how it looked when the Euro Trip started last summer.

This is halfway

And this is after a long strech on the Autobahn on the way home.

I'm proud to say it's never gonna be thinner!

Here's mine at present , by the end of the run i managed to remove all the salt  :P

Started at Hartside (well who wouldn't) it was interesting as the roads were very liberally sprinkled with salt (****loads of it) :P

this made for some interesting riding in the twisties ( like riding on loose sand) I reckon i would have been like the big boys to watch "backing it in" sliding around apexes ETC.

I managed to get the tyre covered in salt right to the edges

What do you want to get your knee down for?

kwak zzr 08-04-06 03:31 PM

to get the scratches off my knee sliders that i made when i fell off

22 08-04-06 05:10 PM

I'm sure rubbing them on tarmac wont buff them up. :)

reason i ask is you've got no chicken strips? i think its got alot to do with the tyre your running, most sv riders cant use all the tyre right to the edge but as soon as you change the tyre its a different story? i cant talk too much because i dont know much about tyres. my cousin has a 05 bandit and within 600miles from new he had a puncture that couldn't be repair'd so he had a new tyre fitted(better one than stock) and hes used most of the width of the tyre already and hes just a learner :? i dunno  just a thought

I normally don't approve of such "willy measuring" contests. But hey ho there you go!

Peter might I respectfully point out that as I pay for tyres I like to ensure that I get full use out of them by wearing them right to the edge

I've got a away to go on the front yet though

JakeRS 09-04-06 04:02 PM

Well guys here are mine. I'm quite proud because my old bike had huge strips :D

And also pleased to say this front was a brand new tyre so I have an excuse for the strips

Peter Henry 10-04-06 01:35 PM

Filipe...I will not be able to do that unfortunately my friend. I know if I did you would only be out trying to replicate the naughtiness shown above! :P

Balky001 10-04-06 01:39 PM

Peter

Let's see the next 5 shots where the front end folds and you bump on you back side for a bit - could this be the reason for the new lid - a few scratches? I could have got a similar shot when I dropped the Daytona 675

Peter Henry 10-04-06 01:41 PM

Balky....Where you there that day? :? :P
