Exhaust to fit my SV
Hi All,
does anyone have any advice re: after market cans for the SV? I popped to newcombes in chelmsford on the weekend as I was looking at a Micron. the guy in there said they don't do a straight slip on exhaust for the SV. He said it could be done, but then might knock out the carburettor settings... I'm not that mechanically minded, but am thinking this could be more hassle than it's worth I would like my bike to sound a lot more meaty though, so am going to have another look around on the weekend. Has anyone here got any tips, from what they've done in modifying their own? Paul |

Er... I don't think my micron was a hack saw job...
Will look into it, but I've got a road legal micron exhaust and a micron race exhaust.. both slip on/off easily enough. Wouldn't carb balancing even out any hiccups in any case? (http://www.carbtune.com/) |
I take it you changed all of the pipe work, and not just the can?
How would they slip on/off? are they bolted from underneath? |
I didn't put it on which is why I need to look into it. :D The bike came with alot of documentation about the mods so I'll go through tonight and see if the whole system was changed.
The end cans (I think is the terminology) are easy to swap 'round. :) |
Yep, hack saw job, about 10cm up from the connector pipe for mine (varies with each can maker)
If it curvy, word is they run rich anyway, so a new can needs no rejetting. (mine got a much better response after the hack job). And pointy's seem to have no issues with a hack job. So pick your can of choice (preferably from the upcoming BMF show to save yourself cash), aquire hack saw (or angle grinder for the brave and sure of hand), and get with the elbow grease. For which can, refer to our fare hardware section Personal preferance was the Fuel Exhaust, just stainless steel oval, £150 with removable baffle and link pipe from the Ally Pally show. Very nice. Loud when legal, F*%KING EVIL when not so legal |

that's great... might check it out then.
just a micron can, can cost £2-300.... that's loads. might check out the bargains at the next show, but I'd need to be exactly sure of what I was wanting to get So, it's as easy as cutting of the old can, and clamping on the new? The guy at the dealer seemed to think there'd be other things you need to look at as a result? I just want LOUD :-) |

As for 300 quid? its a metal tube, with loft insulation and another metal tube inside!! Are they riveting it with pure love or something? |
I'm serious! That's the prices I saw on Micron's website :-(
doesn't have to be micron, but I've seen, and like a few of them we'll see though |
Stick a WOLF on it 114db with the baffle out , 100% legal with the baffle in [2min job]takes about 20mins to fit the whole lot and costs about £160 Bonus being that the can is a bolt together and is simple to repack when needs must.no farting about with rivets You pays your money and you makes your choice
All the aftermarket cans make fantastic claims about improved performance but unless you have the full system you may gain a little bit of power but not enough that you would notice, only thing is the bike usually feels more free due to better exhaust emmission The choice is yours |
See These guys as well. Really good cans and the service from them is pretty good too. And if you come to the barge for drinky's on thursday night I may turn up baffleless

Carbon can co... gonna check them out. £110 is certainly a lot nicer than £250 :-)
You guys go to the Barge every thursday? That's in battlescridge, yeah? Certain that I rode past it last summer when there was some kind of boat race Thanks everyone. I might pop down later on. What time does everyone get there? (I won't be back from work til 8ish, and depending on whether I gotta go out with the Mrs, I might come) Would be good to see the variety of exhausts that others are using. Would be nice to get something sorted this weekend. Paul |
