I don't believe it

You would think people would learn by now.

I was up at Rivington this morning and a guy turns up on a yellow Deytona, both him and his pillions contribution to safety were helmets.

The rider wore combats, light jacket, trainers not even a pair of gloves. similar the pillion.

OK I am used to the scooter muppets being so stupid with their own personal safety and confident in thier own invunerablity, but not so on a full sized bike.

Something at the back of my mind makes me think he must have only just aquired this bike. and where from.

Must say although I wear Textile/Leather gear through Winter/Spring/Autumn, to work & for the odd jaunt ....on the hot days i'll wear just a denim jacket or likewise (and on some days just a shirt)

I know it's not clever but it's just my choice, ........still I would never stoop to shorts/t-shirt :crutches:

It is your choice indeed. However I think it should be pointed out to you that if you're wearing a denim jacket, you might as well be wearing shorts and tshirt because if you come off there will be very little difference in how much skin you lose.

If I'm riding to my mates or my girlfriends, within a mile and not over 30mph zones, I will wear just a T shirt and jeans if it's hot. Anything more than that and it's full gear.

after years of riding with leathers/textile clothes i can honestly say that even sitting on a bike in the show room with jeans t-shirt feels just slightly strange!

Razor 23-04-06 02:57 PM

I once rode naked, for a bet

I wore jeans when I first started biking on my CG. Purely because I couldnt afford any better gear. As my salary has increased and Ive been able to Ive bought better gear. But not everyone can.

PS I have denim jeans, and planning to get a jacket that would prove the above wrong. :D

PPS 22's post above is why I gear up every time - even for 5 minutes and a mile round the corner. You cant legislate for everyone else and Id rather not take the chance that the time I dont is when I meet Mr Blind Car Driver who forces me off the bike.

If it's too hot to gear up, its too hot to ride.
If its too short a trip to gear up, its too short to ride.
If you're too lazy to gear up, you're too lazy to ride.

You've not proved me wrong. You need to fall off to test them first. If you do, I hope you're proven correct.

Btw are we talking about Draggin Jeans or specialised bike denim here?

JakeRS 24-04-06 01:32 PM

ALWAYS were my jacket, but if I'm riding across town (and only across town) to go shopping etc I will wear jeans instead of my textile trousers

same here! rode my dads scooter the other day with trainers on  u feel very vunerable when your used to good boots.

mysteryjimbo 24-04-06 04:05 PM

Minimum i wear is boots, jeans, jacket, helmet and gloves on REALLY hot days when i expect to see a little traffic.

Dicky Ticker 24-04-06 05:08 PM

I wear denim when riding, but it is a proper biker set/ziptogether/armour and to be honest it feels a lot more protective than my leathers [HELD] although it only looks like a pair of jeans and jean jacket

cyphertheory 24-04-06 06:58 PM

im on the textiles and trainers because im just to big to get leathers and boots!

6.5" and size 15 feet :( being big and tall is good when ur in a pub brawl but not on a bike lol

but i will be geting some daytona boots when i can afford it, not sure about leathers tho i think it looks very "odd" on a "big boned" lad when you are squeezed into them and i dont know how comfortable they will be.
