You don't get any closer than that :D |
Nope, dont have to. Every year the red arrounds use the school (its a mansion) next to us as there turning point, so I get a double fly by from the red arrows very very low to the ground.
Its fantastic, and deffening! Dan |

Bah. BH Airshow nowhere near as good as it used to be. No Vulcan, no crazy Russians crashing their fighters etc
|
Very true about the Vulcan, although it is due to fly again soon (been restored) Crazy ruskys?! They didnt crash here, that I think was at Farnborough Airshow.
(correct me if I'm wrong) But yes you're right,no-where near as good as it was. SO many planes that don't come here anymore. A-10 Tankbuster,Stealth-Fighter,Bucaneer,Sukhoi SU-27's,(they're the ones that crashed) F-16,to name a few. We,(me and mates) don't bother with the Airshow,in which I mean going in,we go in to the Fields off of Oaklands lane, that is right on the flight-path,so they fly right over your head! |

Haha what a clip! Scared the bejeesus out of me first time I watched it!
I went to the Belgian air defense day (yes belgium have an army  ). They had two flying fortresses in formation come over the treeline, it was incredible. Also had an A10 (Warthog! :D ), F16 etc etc. I also got a go on a Mirage anti-air missile and a MILAN anti-tank TOW. (Practice fire not real obviously :)). Very good fun all round! |

Best sound of all is the Battle of Britain flight, usualy a spit and Hurricane and a Lancaster, they came over the office one year and really shook the building. It was then followed by a concorde sheer class.

my job's going very well thanks :) |
Didn't the rusky's crash at Fairford?
I remember a fair few years ago, we were flying the plane back to Biggin after the airshow (had to move the plane for the show), and had to circle for ages as the vulcan had burnt a hole into the runway! (sure it was the vulcan, don't quote me on it) But those were great airshow days, the russians would be in the main building (now the terminal) ****ing it up on the Sunday night - great fun! Will try and be there on the Sunday if it's dry :D P.s. Plane Geek time - XH558 (Vulcan) will be flying soon (Can't wait) , they've been ground training on the Vulcan at Wellesbourne. And you'll find me at the Swan for the Farnborough airshow this year, with a pint in my hand! |
Yes it was the Vulcan that blew a hole in the runway!
Can't wait to see it fly again!!!!! Well I have to say, this years Airshow was the WORST ever! SO many planes WERN'T there! Only one with an afterburner was the Typhoon(eurofighter). |
BH airshow was a pain this year last week they closed one of the runways to put up fencing so had to take off and land with a strong crosswind (still learning at the moment so a bit hairy) and no flying this weekend and the weather was lovely.
|
Bit of a quiet show this year, no Red Arrows or anything. I'll post up some pics when I get back home tonight
Highlight was the takeoff of the Red Bull Sea Vixen - thundered down the runway holding it down, and then pulled up sharply at the end - scattered bits of tarmac all over the place  - must have taken them nearly an hour to resurface it  |
Lol that was good its just a shame about the red bull being splatered all over it. I thought that belgian bloke in the Fouga Magister was cutting it a bit fine when he took off down the runway. Must have been at lest 2ft off, nut case!
Other than that it was avery low key one. Not as good as it used to be. |

quality pic's. i actually applied for the job of the wingwalker with the utterly butterly's. said me legs were too hairy or something like that :( :D love that shot of the lancaster cockpit. |
the show wasn't that grate, i went on the Sunday but the weather was nice.
|
That will be the one toady. Some superb piccys the mate. Top notch.
|
the last airshow i went to a spitfire crashed into the runway and burst into flames.. unfortunately the pilot died.. that was in 1992, at woodford
i heard they managed to rebuild the spitfire though which must have been a feat considering it was a blazing wreck ! |
Mr.Toad,
Excellent Pictures,I'll post mine when I download them from camera! |
