Bear in mind it was off the road for nearly 3 months during that time.

Is it? I thought about 4000 was average.

My R6 is on about 9500, 13 months old now... But around 6.5k were abroad, and mostly motorway as a result.

Dont understand who decided what the average mileage is...bikes are for riding, I am sure if you can do 10K in a car in a year, why cant you do it on a bike?

They make me laugh!!!!

And after the North/South rideout this weekend it'll have another 1000 miles on it, so it'll be 16,000 miles. 8)

Scoobs 14-06-06 07:25 AM

I used to do 25,000 miles a year just going to work and back. Plus leisure miles. Now I do considerably less. Will be adding a further 1,000 ish this weekend though. I will be in need of another service when I get home.

The Basket 14-06-06 08:28 AM

Bikes are for riding for sure.
You don't buy a dishwasher and not use it.
I bought my bike for leisure and not commuting and therefore low miles.

Law 14-06-06 12:02 PM

*Runs out checks bike

4814 from 1st April 2005. Haven't done many miles since the 4k service at the end of March for some strange reason.

El Saxo 14-06-06 12:04 PM

Just over 3k i think, without going out to the garage.

andyaikido 14-06-06 12:23 PM

jenni 14-06-06 04:16 PM

Stu 14-06-06 04:27 PM

Sorry if off topic - but for the high milers here, do you get a lot of vibration in your hands? My hands still feel as if they are vibrating after 250 mile ride on Sunday evening.
If so, any hints to help?

I'm with Basket here.

I live 5 miles from work, but most of the time I drive (mainly because it's easier to jump in the car at 07:50am to be at work for 08:00am,whereas when I do go on the bike,it takes longer to get ready, longer to get the bike out of the Fort-Knox garage etc etc) because I like to sleep and get up for work right at the last minute.

I use mine mainly for fun,not commuting. :smt102

Yep, sounds silly but dont grip the bars so hard and remember to relax.

1world2wheels 14-06-06 07:07 PM

My K5 has a mind numbing, staggering high mileage of 287 miles on it. Only picked it up last Thurs. 100 of those were riding it back from Fowlers in Bristol to Southampton.

Thanks Fizz, but don't you need to support your body weight on your hands when tucking?

Yes you do but you dont need to grip the bars as if you were trying to stop sand sliding through your fingers. Also trying supporting some of your weight by gripping the tank with your knees a bit more

DanAbnormal 16-06-06 03:49 PM

Well technically mine is a K5 although it was not registered and bought until March 06. Since March I've racked up over 6'000 miles.

Yikes.

My hands to tend to go numb after a bit, but tbh you get used to it!
