Knee Down
:D :D :D :D :D
Had my SV a month and a half and finally scrapped my right knee slider on a shellgripped roundabout... can't wait to get some sticky tyres and try else where  |
re
Brave man if you are on the original dunslips d220's

eye!! Hense the shell grip! Tried on a normal roundabout but the rear slid
|
We don't have any of these 'shellgrip' roundybouts up here yet. How big a difference is the grip? Ive yet to get my KD on my new SV yet, mostly due to lack of confidence after a big off a few months back. It was no problem on my CBR and the hornet before that. In fact my first kneedown was on a left hand bend on a backroad! What kind of sliders you using? Ive got a pair of WIZ sparkies but I wouldnt really reccomend them, the little titanium rods keep dissapearing out them for some cheap reason!
Congrats on the KD, god if these shellgrips are as grippy as they sound when they get them up here there will be a cue for the roundabout, with people trying to get elbows down!! |
You better watch yourself my friend or you are going to end up throwing it down the road. :?

Its the roundabout in Farnborough just down the road from the leisure centre and B&Q.
Shell grip seems alot better, the dunlops seem very vague on most roads but on the shell grip they feel totally planted, although still have a cople of mils chicken strip. Still got the standard alpinestars sliders. Was thinking about getting a set of titanium ones just for the noise  |
the rear of my bike gets very twitchy when on the last 5mil of tyre.
|
I really do not see what all the fuss is about :? I ride fast (ask anyone that knows me ) and the furthest thing from my mind is getting my knee down
cannot see the fascination in this practice :? when the pro's do it they have a good reason, but on the road there is absolutely no need what so ever IMHO  |
stop's me getting bored

Just learning how to do it has made me concentrate very hard on cornering and has helped me feel more relaxed on the bike |
Theres no need to do anything. Theres no need to get that tinted screen, no need to get an aftermarket can, no need to get dinky indicators, no need to go out on a friday afternoon and do 100 miles just for the fun of it, theres no need to put a GSXR front end on it and theres no need to get your knee down.
But we do it, we do it becuase we want to have fun, we want to enjoy what we have, we do it because we have passion, because we love our bikes and most importantly we do it because WE CAN!!!! |

but there again each to their own :P  |
Yeah, I think I went a bit over-dramatic there, apologies!
I dont have a ridiculous view that it makes me a faster rider or anything, I dont do it when Im riding quick. I just do it when Im knocking about for a bit of a laugh. Or when Im on a well kown roundabout and nodding at the open mouthed car drivers waiting to join the traffic. Its just for a laugh. As for scraping pegs, I had a hornet for a while and that would scrape pegs and boots for free. I had to replace the hero blobs before I sent it back to the hire company! |

I'd like to be able to do it. Purely for no other reason to say that I can. I think I've worked out what I'm doing wrong now. So its just a matter of practice practice practice. |
