Ouch Again!!!

So.... riding home after a nice afternoon working on bikes at Sam and Jambo's, decided to take the scenic route home through Headly and past Box Hill. Being nice and sensible following a car through a village, I look ahead to see a wider car squeezing into the hedge to let us through, I look back to the car infront to realise it's a lot closer than it was before. My brain kicks in and decides to grab a handful of front brake . When the **** end of the bike reached 12oclock i decided it best to throw myself at the road. While laying their recovering my breath, i realise that i have broken my colar bone.... oh well, another 6 weeks of summer i have to miss!!!

I haven't seen the bike as its been recovered to an insurers, just remember seeing the screen in pieces all over the road.

Many thanks to Sammy and Jambo, for keeping me company in the hospital and stopping me from going insane.

Off to go cancel my track day  but i will try and make it to watch everyone.

Rigor,

ps. i may not qualify for the wonky knee gang, but i might have to start a new gang for the wobbly shoulder gang

thor 24-07-06 03:30 PM

Bummer!

Having broken my collar bone about 3 weeks ago I sympathise! Pm me if you want to talk about the injury in any way.

I hope you and the bike get back on the road soon!

John

Samnooshka 24-07-06 03:30 PM

I'm just glad you're ok, and it really wasn't any problem sitting at hospital with you.

Thanks to Jambo for giving me a lift up there as i was not in the right state of mind to ride myself.

Hoping you get better soon.

Now i hope you have learnt this time.... and don't go doing it again Mr!!!!!

Sammy x

Swiss 24-07-06 03:30 PM

Take it easy and get well soon!!!

jonboy 24-07-06 03:30 PM

Spiderman 24-07-06 03:31 PM

Oh balls!

Sorry to hear this mate, hope its not too painful.

northwind 24-07-06 03:34 PM

Ooh yah. Heal quick!

jambo 24-07-06 03:36 PM

Already covered but just glad you're ok. Bike's far less improtant than life & limb!

1) Will people stop Saying SV brakes suck, clearly if you can loop over the front wheel they can't be that bad

2) Will you *please* pick an A&E unit with a working coffee machine next time...

Supervox 24-07-06 03:41 PM

Jesus !!

Glad to hear you're (pretty much) ok though :)

With hindsight, do you think that another option might have been better ?

That is, to flick the front wheel up & ride OVER the car in front ?? :D

Hope you heal quickly mate :)

Tara 24-07-06 03:44 PM

Damn glad your relatively OK James take it easy

simple simon 24-07-06 03:48 PM

Sorry to hear about your off.

Did a similar thing three years ago. Smashed my right shoulder and my left arm, so couldn't move one arm and the other was in plaster.
I ended up having a replacement artificial shoulder which is just as good as the old one. I hope your injury is not as serious.

But on that merit I want to be president of the Wobbly Shoulder Gang :P

Feel better soon (ask for Tramadol - it helps a lot and there was a thread here recently about it!)

Si

falc 24-07-06 03:52 PM

Ed 24-07-06 05:09 PM

Commiserations :(

I know what it's like to be sat at home when everyone else is out having fun. We can just about hear traffic on the A5 from our house, it used to drive me mad to hear bikes on the road when I couldn't get my leg over.

Sid Squid 24-07-06 05:35 PM

FFS James - this is becoming a habit!

Stop this self abuse immediately - you're too young and too handsome to be knocking yourself about like this.

Cazza 24-07-06 10:47 PM

Oh noooo... Really sorry to hear about this James. Hope you feel better soon!

Cazza x.

re the SV brakes - Etienne has commandeered my bike to get to work, and called cheerfully this morning to say that he was pleasantly suprised by the effectivenenss of the brakes and had even managed to do a stoppie in similar circumstances :? :?

rigor 25-07-06 11:58 AM

Stop making me laugh! It makes my bones hurt :P

Just waiting to hear what sort of state the bikes in, and before the vultures start circling, Sam's already put in her order if worst comes to worst, so you guys can have what's left heheh (Toolkit and a couple of indicators I'm guessing ;) )

Take it easy

Rigor

Stu 25-07-06 12:18 PM

Real sorry to hear this, hope you're keeping the pain at bay.

Was looking forward to riding to trackday with you.
Don't suppose you're up to riding pillion, but the offer is there. At least you know who's passing in a van.

Viney 25-07-06 12:28 PM

timwilky 25-07-06 12:35 PM

Sammy

DanAbnormal 25-07-06 08:25 PM

Oooh sounds like you made a proper job of it then. Glad you're relatively okay though. Hope the bike is not a total loss. Do you know if it went all the way over?

JediGoat 25-07-06 09:54 PM

Ouch!

Glad to hear it's not worse.

I'll second the recommendation of Tramadol. Take it with Valium and Ibuprofen and you'll sleep like a clubbed seal (to tend to 'come round' in the morning, rather than 'wake up'....but you don't feel a thing all night)*

Jo
*I am in no way qualified to give medical advice.....I'm just rather accident prone.

northwind 25-07-06 10:05 PM

Tramadol was my friend for a while :) But to be treated with respect. I hardly ever use them to deal with a hangover, for example.

Treacle 25-07-06 10:33 PM

Bugger thats a ****er mate. Hope you heal real soon.

Ps put me down for the wobbley shoulder gang as well.

21QUEST 25-07-06 10:46 PM

Mend quick.

Cheers
Ben
