Work faux pas
This guy at work just posted this to one of our main newsgroups instead of replying to his mate by mistake! Made me laugh especially the bit towards the end!

Oh dear  .

pmsl.
Hope the bosses either never see it or they have a great sense of humour. |
he's probably lucky still to have a job - given that he's got nothing to do. I'm very busy 8-[

Quality.
A few years ago a colleague messed up a message that he meant to sent to a mate at another desk. It was a simple and succinct "F*** off!". Unfortunately due to the way the server he was on at the time was set up, not only did it send the message to the named person, but also all of our clients who were hosted on the machine. One of the clients actually rang up saying, "The ASP Server just told us to **** off." It was hard not to laugh... |
Christ.
He is right about one thing though. Dublin is retardedly expensive. Completely, unfeasabley, stupidly expensive. I dont know how anyone lives there. If you want to spend 8 Euro on a bleeding cup of coffee, go to a country where they at least have hot chicks knocking about. Like Norway. Or Denmark. Actually, its probably more expensive than Copenhagen. It scares the crap out of me, and I have to go back at some point. Oh yeah, he is a south sider dub, right? Emm. I bet he is from Dalkey/Killiney. (D4 would be the next guess) |
 ooops  ... wonder how long he will keep his job?
|
He will probably next fall for the "Reply to All" mistake.
I did! Reviewing some print copy, replied "yea, you're right. I thought it looked f***ing sh**e too" No comment from the submitter for 2 days, then out of the blue a revised copy. I replied., "Love it! Just what I had in mind." (I actually thought it was also f***ing sh**e, but didn't think I could object again) |
Quality!
Top marks on him keeping his job for the sake of a few cups of tea - lucky boy! :smt103 |
I very much doubt he will lose his job! At work, there are no real managers (in the traditonal sense) or the usual corporate bumflufferies. Everyone saw the funny side, though I'm sure someone will make sure he is a little busier from now on!

Everyone is driving about in Bmers and Mercs, houses prices are off the radar, but wages are still **** poor, How does that work? Where is all this money? Who owns it? Presumabley the people who bought gaffs prior to everything going completely apeshizt. I suppose. The whole thing is mental as far as I am concerned. I am working in downtown Manhattan. Cavorting about the place with *****s that own yaughts and are Bloomberg's mate, Robin Williams just strolled through the park when I was having a bit of a rest, and I am worrying about my chances of being able to afford to move back to Dublin. DUBLIN . When I grew up there, there were, NO jobs, TONS of junkies, the north was getting blown up to bits, Haughey was in charge and being a complete and utter bollix, and things showed no chance of ever being any differant. And then they were. Boy, were they differant. Sorry. Rant over. |
He was lucky that everyone saw the funny side, and there were no managers/customers involved.
Similar story in our office, not long ago, one of the guys had a leaving party, and there were a most of the suport dept, a handful of developers, a couple of people from projects etc etc. One guy decided that he'd tell one of the developers that he can't believe he gets paid for surfing the internet & playing games. He also said that he just keeps things in the background on the screen so he can change the look of the screen every so often for our boss that practically sits looking over his shoulder, and whenever he's asked anything, he "says something random that sounds about right." He turned around, and yup, you've guessed it, his boss was stood right behind him listening to every word. Luckily, the boss is the kind of guy that won't do anything without proof, but this guy was definately being very closely monitored over the next few weeks! I think this is the reason that (before this night out) our boss made it clear, privately, that I was more capable of the job than my mate, and should the department expand, I was in line for promotion, even though he's been with the company longer (and therefore should have more experience). |

Dublin is well expensive though, but not quite €8 for a coffee. €2.95 for a large latte from o'briens. €2.60 for a fecking muffin though  |

It's more expensive than London but there is no London weighting onto wages. There are still the junkies. I look out onto the quays and can see them dealing everyday. The skangers are in their own little world though so it's no hassle. I would have thought they woud have cleaned it up though. I'm only a couple of hundred yards from O'connel street. Not great for tourism. Suppose If I hated it that much I'd have gone back to Leeds. |
lol, exactly the same thing just happened with my friend Jane* yesterday! We were organising a night out this friday in London with a bunch of guys when she hit "reply all" by mistake and sent the following to everyone including Matt*
"My cunning plan as ever is to free up a bed somehow - ideally by persuading Matt to share mine so you can have his, but think he's finally realised quite how evil I am and is refusing!!" She is now deeply mortified about tomorrow night hahaha *Names changed to protect identity |
