Cam_73 16-08-06 07:22 PM

Heading up to Skye on Friday afternoon :D

Friday doesn't look great, but Saturday/ Sunday looks bright sunny and dry and a nice comfy 17 degrees!!!

No fancy route though, Newhouse >> Paisley>> Fort William >> Kyle of Lochalsh.

My 4rs3 will be numb by the time I get there I reckon

Have a good run Auldyin.

Cheers

auldyin 16-08-06 08:36 PM

Sheila 16-08-06 09:59 PM

I would be up for it but working!! Don't finish till 5.30 to 6ish mon to fri. So unless you want to go for a short early evening run, or weekend day can't help ya. :? Also, I've only done 500 on my new bike and I'm a bit rusty (not the bike o'course.. its sparkling!!) but keen to get out on the unfamiliar roads! :D

colinbal4 17-08-06 07:12 AM

I'd be up for evening runs (6pm onwards) but got to work during the day

auldyin 17-08-06 03:55 PM

well that was brill. left edinburgh at about 1030am and went to Wilsons in broxburn to get a neck tube then over to stirling up to lochearn head to perth then to cupar suzuki which has a 25% sale then down to kirkcaudy to Alan Duffus the along the coastal road over the Forth roadbridge to crammond to south gyle along bypass to hillend skislope then home AR53 is sore but it was worth it arrived back at 16 30 oh oe hour for lunch at a cafe at lock earnhead very nice. any one up for riding drop PM very flexable next week?

jim@55 17-08-06 04:13 PM

sounds good to me .im not working days at the mo ,only one prob ;im in glasgow so any local edinburgh runs are a wee bit difficult for me ,but west coast is easier from this side ,but aye yer on (in theory) bit easier from next week as my remaining 'wee rogue' is back at school.pm me about it

Kilted Ginger 21-08-06 08:36 AM

Auldyin, I'm off on Friday if you are still looking to go out.
Couple of options:
1: Could do Thursday eve to include Sheila and Coilinbal4 (and anyone else who fancies it) Could do Crieff - lochearnhead - callander (or anywhere else)
2: Could do Friday and go west to include Jim@55 (and anyone else) Do balloch - arrocher (military road and wibbly wobbly) - crianlarich then aberfeldy - crieff (wee glen) or kilmahog - aberfoyle (dukes pass) depending on time and how far you want to ride.

Weather to be light showers (day) Thursday dry eve / Dry Friday if you trust forecasts.

auldyin 21-08-06 08:45 AM

or do both LOL ?

sounds good either or both i am meeting jim@55 on wednesday in lanark a old haunt of mine and going riding(bike) in that area for a good few hours so i can say to him about friday but any of the night/day rides sound good so if you want make a plan and we will go for it

thursday night would be ok if it is showers never been in rain since test maybe intresting.
and more riders

:D :D :D

friday never been out to arrocher on bike good road on 4 wheels should be better on 2 :P

Kilted Ginger 21-08-06 08:55 AM

I'm available for either although probably wont manage both (just moved house and up to eyes in it :-({|= ) so we'll see if anyone else fancies it and what the consensus is.
So I'll definitely see you for one of them. :D :riding:

colinbal4 21-08-06 03:47 PM

I'm up for either Thursday or Friday. I finish in Bellshill at 5:30 so can be at Kincardine or Forth Bridges by ten past six.

auldyin 21-08-06 06:52 PM

just checked out weather for the rest of the week and it looks like thursday is the best we have for now but do you trust the forecasters and heavy rain for friday

WHAT DAY

YOU DECIDE

(had to do the big brother thing)

Sheila 21-08-06 09:04 PM

Well I'm up for either Thursday evening or Fri but truthfully not keen on heavy rain!! Same as Colinbal don't finish work till after 5:30ish.. not far from A720 ..dreghorn junction. What sort of mileage are we talkin?

Kilted Ginger 21-08-06 09:13 PM

:farao:
Thursday it is then.
6ish at the McDs at the forth bridge, come one, come all.
I'll stick another post up to invite anyone else who fancies it.
Any preference for route? distance?

Just an Idea, I'll go anywhere :riding:

Queensferry - Dunfermline - Powmill - Yetts Of Muckart - Muirton(A822) - Muthill - Crieff(A85) - Lochearnhead - Callander(A84) - Doune - Bridge Of Allan (Fish supper)(A820 - B824) - Alloa - Kincardine

Then head back to Edinburgh / fife/ central (Home)

Appx 100 miles + home journey, 3.1/2 - 4hrs depending on stops Might be too long for an evening ride, let me know what you all think.

colinbal4 22-08-06 09:26 AM

That sounds good, see you Thursday, I'll be about 10 past six (so long as its not throwing it down 'cos my back tyre is on the wear indicators!). I'll post on Ginger's new thread to confirm attendance on Thursday afternoon and I'll PM Ginger a mobile no.

I'd guess about 30 mins after leaving queensferry but I'm not from around there so cant be sure, probably between 6:45 - 7:00 :? :?

Is there somewhere obvious there to meet up??

stuartyboy 23-08-06 01:57 AM

10 mins to dunfernline - 30 to yetts approx.

Be careful on the crieff road after you get over the hill past knockhill. There's about 4-5 miles of new loose chips on the road.

Me and my mate did kinross, yetts, crieff, lochearn, callander, boa then kinross on saturday - approx 3 hours and 125 miles. Sheila has to watch her miles.

Big diesel spill outside yetts but was sanded on sat. Heavy grain spills on the bends for approx two miles out of yetts up to the tormaukin. Was out there again tonight.

Remember it gets dark at 9 just now so expect a night journey from (possibly) callander onwards. Definitely will be dark by the time we reach Bridge of Allan. I'm not afraid of night riding, its just that it's peak harvest time so need to look out for grain spills on the alloa road.

BIG Al 24-08-06 07:41 AM

Wouldn't mind doin the run but won't make McD's by 6.pm could meet at the yetts tho. Perhaps at the big layby on the right hand side of the road at the resovoir in glen devon.

Kilted Ginger 24-08-06 07:52 AM

:D Great, the more the merrier. Dont know yetts at all but hopefully someone else will, If not if we see a SV at the side of the road we'll pull in. Might be worth PM'ing stuartyboy as he is planning to meet at Yetts as well, (more chance of spotting 2 bikes)
Look forward to seeing you. Pm'd my mobile if theres any probs.

stuartyboy 24-08-06 09:28 AM

I know that layby well. It's by the loch on the RHS - as you get up speed after the twisties.

I'll be there for 6.30-6.45

colinbal4 24-08-06 11:56 AM

Still planning to be there, won't get web access again today so I'll phone if I get delayed & can't make it.

BIG Al 24-08-06 12:04 PM

ok seeyouallat the big layby by the loch then. btw watch out on the approaching twisties, was there on Sunday and a lot of gravel had spilled on the corners right on the riding line so be careful.

auldyin 24-08-06 09:44 PM

well i hope you all enjoyed that
and got home safely hope you all turn up on the 2nd 3rd see you if you do

kilted there getting smaller

stuartyboy 24-08-06 09:49 PM

That wasn't too shabby was it :D :D :D

Hope everyone safe and sound

colinbal4 24-08-06 10:00 PM

Good run, thanks Guys

...apart from ARRRRGGGHH....AULD YIN....YOUR BABY WIPES!!

Did I miss a trick polishing up the visor or did everyone who used them have the same problem?? Rode all the way home with the visor up. I had super strength rash-soothing baby bottom cream creating some fantastic light patterns, not much good for seeing where your going though!

Next time I'm sticking to Holts Screenies, there'll be a packet making their way under my seat tomorrow!

stuartyboy 24-08-06 10:09 PM

Me as well!!!

Was like blackpool iluminations in mine. Quick stop, spit and a polish and back on the road jack.

Just examined my poof hoops - stripped a 1/2 inch off yhe back. Wrist as sore a **** and swolen. Must've jarred it or something but the big grin is makes up for it.

Cheers guys - braw run.

Kilted Ginger 24-08-06 10:09 PM

Good run, glad everyone enjojed it and all home safe. Hopefully see you all next weekend when the "essex crew" hits town.

Quote "kilted there getting smaller"

Auldyin, told you already, size doesn't matter, its how you use them  You could always show them to your better half and tell her thats the reason youve got to be allowed out to play next weekend.

Sheila cant wait to see how hard you ride when the bikes run in!. It is serviced on Thursday, right? Remember and bat your eyelids at the mechanic so he puts in a nice low mileage figure.

Well done 100miles x 6 and no "incidents" (touch wood) Thats the type of rideout I like.
 :riding: :grouphug:

BIG Al 24-08-06 10:21 PM

Hi Guys,
Thanks for an excellent rideout, now that was fun, good roads, smooth fast and twistie who could ask for more and an excellent bunch of riders. Even my mini moto was glad to be along for the ride  Was good to meet some new faces and have a good alround night, thanks for the invite and I hope I meet you all again soon. Take care :D

OK, I thought I'd missed a trick. I ususally use Holts Screenies which just evaporate clear. I did search my pockets for a tissue after we set off to try to buff up the visor, but didn't have anything! The contacts stayed in, in fact it does wonders to lift your visor and get your eyes watering a bit when your contacts are too dry.

auldyin 25-08-06 06:55 PM
