Which make of car causes you the most grief?

There's always some **** who tries to make as much grief as possible when they see a bike..

For me its Ford Focus and Honda Civic boy racers.

Which make of car causes you the most grief?

I'm_a_Newbie 07-09-06 11:14 PM

The one in front of me

northwind 07-09-06 11:30 PM

The Honda CR-V. I've literally never seen one driven competently, and they've featured in a ridiculously high number of incidents I've seen, considering how relatively uncommon they are. It's as though people see the adverts and say "Ooh, top performing side impact protection! Now I can finally pull out on those motorbikes I hate without any risk of injury!"

SoulKiss 08-09-06 12:06 AM

Seems to me the higher the cost of the car the bigger the tosser driving it.

BTW my mother came up with the best expansion of BMW for ages

Bl00dy Minded W4nker :)

My Dad has a 5-series at the time - lol

the bmw drivers road attitude.

falc 08-09-06 06:30 AM

BMW drivers in general but also big 4x4 types. The fast drivers with sports cars and scoobys are generally alright esp. TVR drivers, never had a problem with them. Also boy racers dont seem to be concentrating much on whats behind them so you generally pass them before they even see you.

Refuse to vote until either Transit flat bed or Smart car are addedd.

Boy racers in brightly coloured fiesta size things  Dozy women in puntos   Pensioners in micras and rovers

Saying that, there are bad drivers in every make of car so it's hard to say which make gives me the most grief

timwilky 08-09-06 07:18 AM

Where is the "Anything driven by a women" option.

runs and hides

Baph 08-09-06 08:05 AM

Late teen to mid 20s women drivers with (probably) their female work collegue sat next to them, doesn't matter what they're driving at the time, conversation is far more important than what they're actually doing!
BWM drivers. Enough said!
Irish truck drivers (they own ALL of the road, and some of the path, apparently)

Other than those specifically, anyone who doesn't LOOK before they SIGNAL and then MANEUVER, so just about anyone that drives anything with four wheels. (Except the nice girl this morning in the Punto - who wanted to cross double white lines on the dual carriageway, spotted me & tucked back in - and yes, she was fit!)

I can see why thoes X5s can cause grief. I had the chance to drive one this week and though its a realy comfortable ride you are realy disconnected with the traffic and small things around you.

Balky001 08-09-06 08:17 AM

Mercedes drivers - they are big and fat and handle like boats (and so do their cars) and few Merc drivers can judge the width properly - blocking off filtering opportunities (I'm sure this is not true of any Merc drivers here).

Also grannies in Micras, Corsas, Fiestas etc are a little unpredictable and tend to stay in the lane they may need for the roundabout 5 miles ahead!

It's cos most of them aren't old enough to go drinking, or don't look old enough, so they hang around McDonalds instead pulling teenage slappers who mistakenly think that they are 'cool'

Toypop 08-09-06 11:09 AM

I have had aggro from an Evo, a Lotus Esprit and even a 1.2 Corsa but in the vast majority of cases it is BMW's. They are the worse without a shadow of a doubt.

Whether I am on my bike or in my hot hatch you can guarantee a BMW will give me grief.

Tris 08-09-06 11:18 AM

Anything being driven by somebody wearing a hat

Viney 08-09-06 11:20 AM

Nice to see Volvo not in there :D

Ceri JC 08-09-06 11:41 AM

I normally find Imprezas, Evos and the like to be really good/amongst the most considerate. I've never had one try to race me, either.

Only once has one caused me any grief and to be fair, whilst he should have spotted it (I did, thankfully!) that was because someone pulled out on him, which caused him to veer in front of me without looking.

I've read a few times that people reckon Volvo's day as the "bike killer" of choice of for people who can't drive is over. I have to say, based on the way they're generally driven, I have to agree.

Old people with fantastically bad judgement of speed and distance now seem to opt for small, dirt cheap cars like Kias or Daewoos, sorry I mean Chevrolets- oh, no I don't, I mean Daewoos.

I ride in my bosses car a fair bit for business meeting etc, and he drives a bmw, and is probably the stereotypical beemer driver too, quick to get on the horn, and most journeys are accompanied by his explanations of why bicycles shouldnt be allowed on the road ("There's just not room for them. They were ok in the old days when there were just horses on ther road, but with the roads how they are now it's just dangerous, they should just ban it." ](*,)) tailgating on the motorways, talking on the phone while driving, etc etc. However, unlike the old people in micra's, he's got some concept of how it all needs to work if people are going to get where they're going, knows how wide his car is, and understands the apparently mind-bogglingly complex workings of a mini-roundabout. Dont get me wrong, the boss makes me wince with his driving sometimes, but the ones that always get me are in the hesitant, slow, dithering ones that change their mind halfway through a manouver.

Mogs 08-09-06 12:41 PM

Saxo type with teenage/young women drivers more concerned with their make-up, hair or chatting to their passengers - why do they have to look at them to talk?

Stu 08-09-06 01:02 PM

Variety of makes in Jam sandwich livery or surfit of aerials are the only ones that give me grief. - and they're quite often Volvos Viney!

Its a female thing, its to do with seeing what facial reaction you get from the person you are talking to, often people will say something and mean a different thing. You can tell alot of about what somebody really thinks or feels by looking at their facial expression when they are talking to them.

oldjack 08-09-06 06:03 PM

BMW by far, see simple simon's post.

Big 4x4s are a pain on a pushbike because they either : don't realise they are 2' wider than their other car so almost graze you elbow, or : think they are wider than they are so won't drive through a gap the width of a bus.

So X5s are a double whammy !

fizzwheel 08-09-06 06:44 PM

To answer the question.

All of them. Theres no particular make that is worse or better. Only poor drivers. IMHO driver standards have deterioated in the last few years. Or mabye since I got my bike license I've noticed it more.
