Painted wheels or powercoated
Thinking in the new year of getting my wheels either painted or powercoated, ive spoke to my locak bike shop guy who always helps me out, and i help him out occasionly, he can get me them painted cheap and he reckons there better painted, as if it flakes it can easily be redone, powercoating is different though,
what are peoples views on the both of them, is powercoating alot better, or is paint just as good, bike will look like below hopefully http://upload4.postimage.org/1953141/wheeks.jpg [/img] |
this very topic covered just a few weeks ago, try a search.
|
well i couldnt find one addressing it, i did do a serch so maybe instead of just saying its been covered put a link up or something,
also i did ask what peoples views on how the bike will look, didnt i? so there was 2 questions in there |

Here's your answer I think, did a search for "powdercoat" http://forums.sv650.org/viewtopic.ph...ght=powdercoat |
after do my wheels and posting an extensive explanation of my views recently, I already know this information, why would I look it up ?
interesting you can't find a thread call "wheel painting- what colour" posted to not eight days ago, but then I suppose the search engine is a little beyond some  |
i serched paint and powdercoat but quite alot of threads came up, abut 8 pages worth all with little snippits of info, thanks for the link
|
|
power-coating sounds awsome!!!
|
yeah does dont it lol, i still dunno what would be better though from all the snipits of information,
basicly painting seems better to me, if powdercoat chips at all its got to be completly redone, if paint chips, i can just basicly touch it up |
but paint will chip a lot more easily...
|
proberly, but paint as said does have the advantage that touching up is very easy, and i can get them painted cheap as my mates uncle owns a bikeshop and he has a guy who paints all his mpped wheels, panels , etc,
|
environmentally speaking powder is far superior to paint - way less nasty chemicals and all that. if it does chip you can always touch it up with paint.
