parking ticket
 just got a parking ticket for parking on the zig zags out side my house :x is was only ther a few mins & saw him writing out a ticket so went out .but he said "its too late" so when i started to walk away he asked if i was going to move my car? i said no..i might as well leave it there now....so he said i will give you another ticket........so i said go on then ......i did not think he could do that
 anyway i moved the car  & now im £30 lighter  over |
When you do it 'only for a few minutes' that's when they get you. :D
|
Why are there zig zags outside your house? :?
|
£30? Bargain!
|
If it was a school, or crossing I don't have a lot of sympathy. Must be a pain having parking restrictions right outside your house though.

So this means that because of the path, I have zigzags right outside my house. Because of the locked gates, there is no-one that uses the path any more, yet it's still my responsibility to make sure my hedges don't over grow into it (wtf?) However, the local plod understands the situation, might be handy that the community beat manager is my neighbours brother, but still. I park outside my own house all the time, and yes, some might argue with me about it, but when you put it into perspective, there's nothing wrong with it. The gate CANNOT be climbed over by any of the kids at the school, and there's a whole 43 kids that even attend the school! I've not had a ticket for it yet, and don't think I will be getting one. Even if the path was used, it'd still be safe for me to park there in my opinion, because of the low numbers at the school, and the fact that you can't really drive faster than 10mph down my road, due to the speed humps. |
zebra crossing
|
I believe in focusing on the positives. You could have been towed away but you weren't, it would have cost you a lot more, so you have saved about £60
Here in S'bury we don't have zebra crossings. No, seriously - there aren't any. We have the traffic light thingies instead. :D |
can i get this straight...you parked on the zig zags by a zebra crossing? and are ranting about getting a ticket?

I thought this was leading somewhere funny like getting another ticket for arguing when it wasn't your car anyway.

We live next door to a school, every morning and every afternoon parents picking from the school park on the yellow zig zags and over our drive. I have parked (stopped and got off) my bike sideways across the road to block traffic in the past until the person who was parking over our drive returned and moved. And this is a fairly busy transit road. The traffic wasn't happy, but it was the fault of the guy who parked over our drive way. I have also ridden into the school, parked up on the foot path (blocking it) and walked off after a 2 coaches for the school decided they would not only park on the zig zags but over our drive as well. *Yes we have spoken to the school and they are as useful as a damp tissue, so if tit for tat and ****ing off people is what works, it gets done. i live in a little village & we dont get traffic wardens/police on foot.........& my car was only 70% on the zig zag  i know im in the wrong & admit it i have sent the cheque off
ps there is a car on the zig zags now |

I think Stingo was suggesting that there might be a discount for a season ticket.

Hovis im not in any way having a go at you here but id say a £30 fine was lucky. If a cop had seen it, you'd be looking at double that and 3 points. Sorry pal but no excuses

Don't think yourself lucky for only getting £30 fine.
Think the retired old dear lucky, who has partial sighting and dodgy hearing. Stopping at the crossing to cross the road as safely as she can. Then, just as she has taken a couple of steps onto the crossing some bloke who is running late and not paying full attention to the road wipes her out as he didn't see her in time because what little attention he was paying was hampered by your vehicle blocking a clear view o the crossing. Sorry Hovi5 but it's my opinion that if you are parking on zig zags at a crossing you are putting others lives at risk. Being there for only a couple of minutes is no excuse either. It takes seconds to knock somebody over. With regards to blocking a driveway, as far as I can remember, as far as there is no vehicle in the driveway then it's OK to park there. Its an offence to block a vehicle in a driveway but not to block access to the driveway. |

Hovis, use you loaf mate, you knew it was wrong. Sorry to say it but you deserved this one. Learn from this experience.

Had Plod round at our house last night (unrelated matter to parking), they never battered an eyelid, even when i purposefully told them that I park the bike outside on the zigzags.
But then, they were local coppers who knew the village very well, and they've probably driven past both my bike & car parked on the zigzags about a gazillion times. Sorry Hovi5 :P |
