steering lock to lock???

had my first wee shot of my naked sv k4 last night , lovely wee bike , only thing i notice is the turning circle seems a bit big , might just be me ?? has anyone else noticed this ??

i have another couple of bikes and they are great :) just the sv seems to hit the bump stops very quickly, what do you all think??? :grouphug:

not really noticed TBH its not as good as the gp500 i learned on but not had any problems

I think the lock on the SV is hell of a lot better than some of the other bikes I've ridden.

:P

Na, suzuki's are all pants for steering lock, my sv650s has the turning circel of an oil tanker boat thing, as does my dads gsxr.

So dont fret, and just put your feet down doing u-turns (you passed your test, it dosnt matter now!)

A friend of mine has just changed bikes from a SV650s K6 to on older T-reg Fazer (financial reasons unfortunately) anyhow one of the first things in he mentioned was the better lock on the Yam. Probably not much in it but SV definitely not the best turning circle. Do we care? :smt102

Better than a ducati monster that's for sure.

Luxury :!:
My Rickman has a turning circle of about five miles.
Tell that to youngsters nowadays and they won't believe you.

My Ducati 749 can't be U-turned in a normal sized road, you have to do 3 point turns.

SV turning circle: Better than some, not as good as others.

Not a problem anyway.

I bet the tw*t who beached at Branscombe wished he was riding an sv.

A class one police rider had a go on my sv650 and found it hard to do a u-turn due to the steering lock; U-turning on the ER5 I had before was limited by my abilities; the SV650 is always limited to the stops.

You can still turn the SV in a tight space, you just have to grip the tank with your knees, lean the bike over (into the direction of the turn) and counterbalance by leaning yourself the other way. Takes practice.

Yup I agree to that! Exactly what I was going to post, but a (sometimes) simpler way I find is to stand up on the pegs & lean the bike whilst doing the u-turn.

I haven't had to do them much, but I'm confident that I can when I need to.

i dont tend to ride round in circles

MavUK 29-01-07 04:33 PM

I don't find u turns an issue any more as long as I have a reasonable speed (not too fast, not too slow)... Practice and it'll come :)

But manually moving the thing, to turn around in the garden, is a nightmare. My old Kwak had a much better turning circle. In fact I'm sure that someone listed as a fault of the SV when I first asked for advice before buying one back in 2004.

When I first got the sv, first bike for about 12 or so years, back in september I found it really difficult to uturn. As I gained confidence it got much easier. Turning in the garage is a pain though.

oldjack 29-01-07 07:09 PM

First thing I noticed when I traded in my Divvy for the SV was it hit the stops much earlier when manoeuvering (needed spellcheck for that one !) in and out of the garage , 3 point turns are now 4 point, but I soon got used to it

"Thumper", is that because you like singles (bikes that is) ? I was looking at 650cc singles before I decided on the SV, they seem to be addictive. Why is that ? (waits for reply about cartoon rabbit...)
