Got my DAS on may 30th, will the Pennine Massive take me in? (Just outside of Leeds)

Afternoon all,

I've finally gone and done it. After completing my cbt and theory in august 2005, I've finally booked 18 hours of tuition and my das test for may 30th. If and when I pass (fingers x'd) are there any people around huddersfield/mirfield/heckmondwike or the wider area who regularly go out for rides into the surrounding countryside?

Also if there are any other recently passed/new riders who are looking to build a bit of confidence before going out with more experienced riders, I'd be up for a couple of steady rides to gain some confidence myself.

PT6^

All the best with the DAS and test Paul. Yep, plenty of folk around in these parts. Mixed ability and very welcoming. Keep us posted. Wednesdays are good but I don't need an excuse to blow the cobwebbs off for a couple of hours....

I am always up for a steady ride.. most people on here will ride to the lowest persons level and if they fancy a blast will set a point to wait for you!

Good luck with the test and just remember - YOU ARE NOT IN A RUSH take it slow and traffic is your friend as why rush if you can queue.

Cheers guys :) Relax relax relax lol. I think once I've started my 18 hours tuition (from 19th may onwards) I'll be a little bit more confident. Bit fed up with hanging around, just wanna get on with it and get it done now... oh well, I've never been a guiness man but good things come to those who...

That too :p

What I found with mine was set the revs pretty high, control it on the clutch and ever so slightly drag the back brake.

Good luck, fingers crossed and all that [-o<

Whoop! Whoop! 2 minors. One for balance at the traffic lights (was being a smart **** trying to keep my feet up as I thought they were gonna change to green a bit quicker, ended up putting my right foot down). Other was for missing a right shoulder check just before I turned into a side street. Apart from that "outstanding riding" from the examiner.

I have a confession to make though... Last sunday I went to buy some textile pants from Jordans Bikes at Birstall in west yorkshire. They just so happened to have an sv650s sat in the showroom, so I wondered over and had a quick sit on it. Bloody awful riding position - although this is probably mainly down to me being 6ft 2 and 17 stone. It felt really narrow and odd.

Nearby was a honda cbf600s which I had also sat on, searched around in the net for some info on it, and put a deposit down on tuesday. Hope the org can forgive me! I think once I've had a bit more experience on the road I'll probably be able to handle a sportier riding position. If there's ever any meets which aren't restricted to SV's I'll tag along :)

thanks for all the support too! PT6^

Congrats on the pass Paul :drink:

I'm currently trying to remember where all the good corners are around huddersfield as it's been a while since i rode out. If you want to go exploring anytime drop us a line.

Well done mate. As some1 said it does not really mater what you ride. And Honda is Honda! BTW did you test ride anything before the cbf or was it just a case of "love on the first sight" and you put the deposit down?

Great news. Well done. How chuffed are you? 2 minors is great. When I did mine I had the crappest ride ever!! 10 minors:oops:. Still, a pass is a pass! Right, we need to get a ride out sorted.....

Re: Got my DAS on may 30th, will the Pennine Massive take me in? (Just outside of Leeds)

I did ask a few dealers if a test ride was a possibility but they said since I'd only just passed my test and I didn't have a bike of my own yet, it would be too risky. I had a look around, read some reviews and made sure the bikes I was interested in, were comfy. And as alot of people have said if you've got nothing to compare your first bike to, it's going to be brilliant regardless of what reviews say.
