Argggh! MOT in 2 hours time!
 

mainly worrying because after the accident back in september, she has been in total bits, and been converted into a yamasuki. should pass ok though, only 2 main worries really....front disc, bit of movement in it, and also the exhaust hanger.....the fact that i dont have one!. it is very sturdy and also has a stubby can on it so i am hoping it will be ok.
just incase...anyone know where you can get cheap discs???

ive just failed mine on head bearings, and got an advisory on rear brake disc,

there was a thread from scoobs a while back about where to get cheap brake discs, im trying to find the thread now.

Yay it passed!!!! ony thing he did mention was the over excesive movement in the brakelever (almost touches the bars) so i just went home and heated it up and gthen bent it more orward and hey presto, perfect working brake!!!!

other than that there was nothing else wrong!!!!

Dare I say that you are actually masking a serious issue with you brakes :?: Excessive movement in your brake lever to me would mean that you need to check a few things. Firstly air in the system, old worn fluid, bulging brake lines and probably other things that I haven't thought about. The fact that you can pull the lever and touch the handlebars would to me flash warnings that something is wrong with the front brakes.

well i bled the system twice ad there doesnt seem to be much air in the system so it should be fine. after i had the accident the lever had been bent, so i thought i could bend it back, and hey presto no problems!! brakes work fine!!! problem was jus a bent brake lever

just wondering like . . .how dangerous is it to ride with worn head bearings ?

i could barely feel where they were worn to be honest,

To begin with you would not feel that much and it wouldn't effect much. The trouble is that once they have started to wear, it takes next to no time for them to collapse.

You will get judders in the handlebars when braking. This will make the bearings worse. Your steering will go from smooth left to right to being notchy.

If you go into a corner with the brakes on and try to counter steer, it will be difficult and the possibility of an accident because you did not go where you thought you were going to go.

Should they collapse whilst riding, well that could have catastrophic consequences.

ok, i can barely feel the notch with the wheel off the ground, cant notice a thing while the wheel is on the ground, the bars turn freely, and not noticed any troubles while on the brakes.

i think today will be my last ride for 2 weeks til they get fixed :( then its good old public transport, ( i cant stand public transport, if they took the public out of it, it wouldnt be so bad)

anyone got a spare bike they wanna lend me ?

If I were in your position then I would carry on riding with the aim of getting the work done asap. When you get to the position that you CAN feel it, then stop riding.

That's just me though.

Why 2 weeks to get fixed?
If it was me I wouldn't ride but get it fixed sooner - public transport's expensive!

ha ha, i wish it were that simple,
my current MOT expires, and i cant ride without an MOT, the only reputable dealer in my area cant fit me in until saturday week, so thats when i will get a new MOT certificate,

naah i definetly cant feel any strangeness with the steering, brakes, handling of the bike riding it, and it still goes round corners pretty fast without any sort of drama.
