Camping in and around Pitlochry

Greetings Scottish .orgers...

Before I need my passport, or Hadrians Wall gets rebuilt, a few of us are planning a trip to your fine country.

We want to base ourselves in Pitlochry for a couple of days and ride from there, I used to live in Forres, and have done the moors, many many times in a car, and now I want to do it on a bike

So, my question is this -

Are there any bike friendly campsites in the area around Pitlochry that someone can recommend. We want as cheap as poss obviously, but want to be assured that when we come back from our ride out our gear will still be there!

Thanks in advance for any help!

Gordon

there are lots around pitlochry. best idea would be to go to tourist information place when you arrive. stayed at a nice one near a castle but was not on the bike then. whenever ive been up that way on the bike, i have always stayed at bed and breakfast - wuss I know. http://www.blaircastlecaravanpark.co.uk/

Hi mate,

Thanks for the reply. Would rather have it booked ready for when we arrive. Nothing worse than trying to find accomodation in a rush....

I'll have a butchers on the tourist info website.

But nowt better than peoples experiences....

no matter where you go take your avon skin so softly - midges dont like it.

take waterproofs - it will rain at some point

I know it's not quite Pitlochry, but the Aberfeldy caravan site made the wife and I very welcome last year, great site short walk from the town centre (5 mins) to some great pubs - The Black Watch has some superb military history.

Also, again not at Pitlochry, but Kinross near Perth has a great site (near where the hold T in the park) and we always stop there along with several hundred other bikes when it's time for BSB at Knockhill.

I have the phone number for Kinross if you want it, and can look for the website for Aberfeldy one if you need it too.

Will do.

It now seems the woolly woofters I am going with don't want to camp, so it may be time to search for b and b instead.

Thanks for all the tips though, much appreciated and I will invade your section and post again nearer the time :thumleft:
