Good quality, quieter exhaust?

I've had to put my full-size race can back on as my stubby's a bit dinged up, and it made me sure of something i've suspected for a while- it's too loud for my taste. I went back to the race system from my twins as they were much too loud, but even the WRP is a bit loud for me now...

So, I want a Remus Revolution I reckon. They sound fantastic, look good, and they still sound good with the baffle. But are there any other cotenders for quality-sounding, quiet-ish cans that don't basically have a cork up them? I don't like how Scorpions sound, CCC race cans neither, and Quill is out since they still go too loud for my taste at full chat. Anything else I should consider?

Maybe a micron? delta+ is road legal, the beta and zeta are very loud though (my bike came with one, too loud for me too but can't be assed to change it now)

Stock exhaust, or better ear plugs?

I had the scorpion on my SV and really liked it. With the baffle in it was a bit louder than stock but not much.

Seconded.

Not noisy either, but just a nice noise.

Stu's judgement has been proved... skewed, on this matter...

Me: "So I fitted this Akrapovic can, but it almost killed me when I ran it at idle, and it was louder at 3000rpm than my race can, so I took it off"
Stu: "Cool. Can I have it?"

:salut:

Viney, I'd actually be happy with the noise level of a stock can, if it weren't for it being like a cork up the exhaust, incredibly heavy, and sounding horrible ;) But something just as quiet, only nice sounding, like my old CCC chambered road legal was, would do me fine. It was quite restrictive though.

Micron have always seemed chavvy to me, don't know why, I'll always identify them with GSXR SRADS with lots of anodised bolts. And Scorpion, like I say, just don't like the sound much.

Thanks for the recommendations folks- more are most welcome

My CCC road legal can sounds very good and the price to boot.

I really liked my old CCC... It was too shiny, that was the only reason I sold it :) Hmm... I like the newer CCC dualports too, in titanium. I'll give that a good long look I think, cheers

I saw a dual port can on a bike last weekend. One of them was a dummy though! What's that all about?

He probably just had the baffle(s) in.
I'm talking about Blue Flames don't know if others are the same. The "baffle" for the bottom port is a blanking plate that does not let any air past. But it is removeable so it is not a dummy.

I reckon you can probably hear it from where you are tbh :smt045 :smt045 :smt103

Quiet and subtle it isn't!!!!

Thanks folks. I have taken leave of my senses and bought a Blue Flame tri-oval :) Well, it was cheap on Ebay. No clue whatsoever what sort of bike it's for, but that's OK. So, we'll see how that goes. It's quite possible I'll restart this thread in a fortnight :)

Stu 24-06-07 10:35 AM

Re: Good quality, quieter exhaust?

I thought Blue Flames lasted more than a fortnight before they rattled themselves to bits? That's a bit harsh Northy!

Re: Good quality, quieter exhaust?

This one's used, it's probably used up half of its 6-month lifespan :)

edit- oh aye, that reminds me- you have a blueflame for the SV don't you? If it's no bother, could you measure the internal diameter of the entry port for me? I'm thinking it'll be 50, 52 or 54mm but I'm not sure.

Stu 24-06-07 01:07 PM

Re: Good quality, quieter exhaust?

Internal is 52, ext, is 54.

Re: Good quality, quieter exhaust?

Excellent. That means I probably haven't ****ed up too badly with this one :)

I like my Remus too, though mines the older Grand Prix model which is a fixed Road Legal model. Though I have been assured that when you open her up its very nice (don't sound the same when you have that lid on).

Dear god you bought a "BlueFlammmme" after saying Micron was a bit chav? You really need your head looking at :p

northwind 25-06-07 06:30 PM

Re: Good quality, quieter exhaust?

It's the mahoosive trapezoidal one as well, with the riveted on logo- which is either the best or the worst blueflame, depending on where you stand. It's now my goal to fit it before the AR, though this is made a little harder by the fact that it's not been posted yet

Re: Good quality, quieter exhaust?

i want a full exhaust that isn't much louder. I came to this decision the other day when i was ridding a back road come around the turn WOT i am slowing down to turn anyways but that second state trooper got back in his car to come after me well he never did find me but the point is even with a stock exhaust when it is wound up it still makes enough noise to get cops attentions. I dented my front header pipe so i am in need of a new exhaust so what companies make a good full exhaust that isn't to loud
