Sunday 8th Anyone in Reading area

WAs thinking about going for a run out to Foxes, get breakfast of drink, look at all the other bikes..etc...

So anyone in the Reading area interested in coming too?
Route will probs be along lines of up through Caversham, Then along the A4074 all the way to Foxes. Then might come home via Didcot, and Blewbury, then along the A417, A329 as some good views and good bits of road that way too.

I am hopefully going to see the specialist in a week or so, to see if i can get the all clear to ride, prior to surgery(de Puniet style). No pain no gain and all that :)

With some luck i will hunt a bike down and join you.

Good news that Mark!

Have you thought about what you're gonna replace the SV with?

Re: Sunday 8th Anyone in Reading area

It was always between R6 and ZX6R, but the kwak just seems that more practical a bike(fuel consumption and all that). I know that sort of stuff shouldn't come into buying a sports bike but hey ho.

I like the new model ZX6R....i cant decide if i buy new or not though. Having looked at them before i didnt like the old shape, but that turns out to be pre-2002. So im not ruling out an older model(2003/4) bike either if i find the right one.

I have done an online quote with CN and it seems a good insurance price...of course i will ring around and get it lower :)

When i talked to the doctor and asked about riding he swore at me...it doesn't sound promising but a slim hope is better than none.

It looks like the weekend has come to soon as my doc flaked on the appointment. Hopefully i will get some idea before johnwest(i much prefer that username and all the related fish jokes) moves to the area. Soon we can demand our own section and not have to travel to box hill in the early hours :D

Oh and Nick you might be interested to know im off to view a kwak 636 in a few days time, so i might have a bike even if i cant ride it.
:rave:

Nice one Mark, was gonna say that Infinity were doing the ZX6R for £5999 with 0% finance over three years but had a look around and you can get it for around £5800 OTR with the finance elsewhere.. Damn good price for that bike. I was there at the open day and had to leave or I would maybe have traded again, the salesman sensed I was cracking! Love that orange!

Will defo be trying to arrange something in August KnightRider..

How about a Thames Valley area... or would that be too broad?

So anyone still interested in this Sunday? Should have my bike back up and running after I replace a gasket some time tomorrow..

I reckon Thames Valley would work. Its really only a 30-45 minute journey to get anywhere.

Im defo not available this sunday(as much as i would like to be) and i think that Nick is going to the IAM in Wokingham...you may want to go as well. mark_h posted a thread concerning the meet.

For Nick and any others interested i blagged a lift from a mate and went and viewed the bike. Late reg 2006 in silver :(. I was always skeptical as i dont like the bike in silver, but it had been down the road and IMO wasn't repaired that well. It had a few trick bits Ohlins/Yoshi etc, but i was never going to pay circa £4.5k for a bike like that. Another £1300 as you said and i can buy new.

My search has led me to checking out a low mileage 2004 636. I want to have a butchers in the next few days. I know i said i wanted a new model, but if i can get it for a good price :smt003. It also has a 'normal' exhaust as opposed to that under seat abomination:smt067

SDMF - I'm hoping to get to the IAM meet but this weekend is a bit difficult. My g/f has just come back from a week away with work and i'll have too see when I can get away.. Could maybe meet up for a run to Foxes, will let you know :-)

I'm gonna suggest a Thames Valley Group - see what they say...

SDMF 13-07-07 04:25 PM

Re: Sunday 8th Anyone in Reading area

Ok. Yeah I keep meaning to pop along to the IAM, esp as I think it's their public open day this Sunday.

Ok, let me know then if you come along to Foxes.
Hopefully we'll hear whether a Thames Valley group will be able to start or not, in the near future..

SDMF - I can get away for the morning tomorrow if you're still up for a run out? A blast up to Fox's sounds good to me!

Re: Sunday 8th Anyone in Reading area

Yeah, 10 sounds good. How about the TGI Fridays car park, by the royal mail centre?

StreetHawk 14-07-07 09:47 PM

Re: Sunday 8th Anyone in Reading area

Re: Sunday 8th Anyone in Reading area

Good run out today, not many at Fox's though..

I need to work on my corner speed! Cheers James..

SDMF 15-07-07 03:57 PM

Re: Sunday 8th Anyone in Reading area

Yeah, indeed it was a good run. I think the road surface, and weather could've been putting a lot of bikes off from going to Fox's.

Corner speed will come in time.. you just need to get out more! I think i was only faster through the twisty stuff because i knew those roads- ridden them a fair few times!

Re: Sunday 8th Anyone in Reading area

Who do we talk to, to get a Thames Valley section? I may as well put in a request as well. Then i imagine all the characters will come out of the woodwork :)

SDMF 15-07-07 06:56 PM

Re: Sunday 8th Anyone in Reading area

Nick has started a post for it in the forum suggestions section.. Guess we'll have to wait and see whether they create one or not.

StreetHawk 15-07-07 07:49 PM

Re: Sunday 8th Anyone in Reading area

Yep, I started a thread in the suggestions section for a Thames Valley group.. All those in favour should show support on that thread :-)
