The R6 has landed

Delivered today and i have to say i am chuffed to bits:love: ....black could be the new yellow ;)
http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...6/DSC01570.jpg
I am too lazy to upload some new pics so used an old one. I will upload some later when i am bored...quite possibly in the early hours.

My mate came over to have a butchers which led to him redeeming a "g'is a go mister" which i owed him after a ride on his GSXR when he got it.

We chartered a course to the local glider club and charmed our way past security to let it rip on the runway(sympathetically of course as its still being run in)

I can therefore confirm:

1:Stock Dunlop tyres are not great...especialy when it got a bit greasy. That said i was feeling for grip through the front end, new bike and all. New though so i will live with them.

2:Pillion is incredibly uncomfortable with a messed up knee....way more so than riding and taking the weight of the bike. Methinks i will not be riding for a good few months after that.

3:Even 2 up it shifts like a demon, we saw close to the max indicated speed.

4:When you ride it solo it all makes sense...i only had a 20 minute hoon but what a bike.

5:Although no long distance covered it seemed a lot more comfortable than the SV....peg layout and riding position suits me better....time will tell though.

6: Suspension was amazing in comparison to the SV(should i have been surprised)...the front end gave a lot of confidence. My mate loved it and is now giving the new R6 serious thought.

7:The bank clerk/teller was rather attractive :p . It probably also helps that everytime i see her i make a large withdrawal(No smut intended for the Blue_ types)

8:As the drizzle had stopped when we got back, i decided to give it a quick clean/polish and remove all the fly splatters. Letting it dry out in the sun it got really hot to the touch...damn black bikes :)

9:I got a lift to the bank with the seller and i took out the bankers draft and he deposited it immediately as his bank was just across the road....We were parked on double yellow(although we made sure it was a place that didnt block the flow of traffic or and drive ways) after i assured him that there are never any traffic wardens about. Much to my horror as i sat in his car waiting for him to deposit the funds when i saw 2(yes not 1 but 2) on the other side of the road ticketing illegally parked cars. Despite the valiant efforts of some bloke kicking off on the other side of the road about his ticket...one of them made it to the van. However the biking gods were on my side as she peered in and saw the bike and seemed quite interested. Small talk was made and the seller finally came out the bank and we got off with a warning :D

Few more miles now.....but yeh it was 276 miles when it was delivered. Its an 05 model but it was a late register Jan 2007.

Re: The R6 has landed

Jan 2007 that's a lot better at least. Why is it only being sold after 276 miles though? Bit old for a demonstrator (needs to be the latest model doesn't it)?

Not a demonstrator...sold new from George Whites Swindon. Old fella who bought it apparently couldn't see the speedo with his glasses:confused: . He didnt like the riding position either, which makes more sense. From what i can tell it seems pretty comfortable.

The real question is what is the seat made out of....spongecake?

Defo going to change the can...not sure what but ive always fancied an Akra or Yoshi.

More good news was £400 saved because of a few scratches here and there...exhaust has loads of marks on it(boots i guess...autosol?) and there is a little scratch on the tank...from a zip i assume. Tank protector will go over that though and £'s saved.

I also learned that when you give it a nice shampoo it leaks into the rubber mounts for the mirrors and when you fold them in as you cover it....they leak suds all over the freshly polished fairings....BAH!

Forgot to mention....my blue streak continues as the neighbours nanny(who looks well put together) got talking with me today as i was cleaning the bike. I had no contact before as i have been mr.grumpy with my knee.

There was talk of a pillion ride, but would i want to compromise the handling :)

ASM, how tall are you? When I had a test ride of one last weekend, I found it
a little cramped. I'm 6'1".
Lovely bike, if a little extreme for everyday road use imo.

Similar height to you Steve. Like i said its early days and first impressions are more comfy than i initially found the SV.

Its good to have a serial world champs endorsement

It had to be done....generally i treat it like a baby :driving:

It does say in the owners handbook that it should not be ridden over the guidelines for "excessive" amounts of time.

Blue you are welcome to rendezvous with the prospective TV group and have a bash. It might be better to wait for me to fully run it in though as i know you will kane it.:smt040
