firestorm??
any body know any links to a vtr 1000 owners club forum or anything like that ,,just gen talk im after (whats the ins group ,whats it like ??)i want another twin :rolleyes: but the 650 was running out of steam quite a lot and i dont like the 1000 version ,so a firestorm it is then ,quite good bikes by all accounts ,my cbr is very fast but its the noise i miss ,il4 ,its just not the same:(

possibly an sv 1000 ,but the honda build is prefferable than the suzuki way i.e rubbish.the firestorms are cheap as chips as well dare i say it ,,,the sv has a bit of a rep as a ,,,,girls bike ,there ive said it..its not my perception of it (ive had one rem)but the firestorms got a btr name for it self ,,and back to the price thing ,used sv10000s are quite dear compared back to back with a firestorm but in saying that u never know ,,,its gonna b a twin anyway;)

Ive had a firestorm they are great nice very torquey motor although i didnt find the riding position comfortable found it forced my wrists into a funny position! saying that it was comfier than my k3 sv650 i had! get one you will lov it and it wont corrode like a suzuki can.

I've always liked the idea of the Firestorm, but everytime I've seen one I can't help thinking that the designers had a bit of a brain lapse when they were doing the back end.
The SV1000 on the other hand looks much better IMO, how it can be called a girls bike I've no idea......the 650 maybe, but not the thou. <runs and hides> |

yeah ,your all prob right about the 'girls bike'thing ,,,,so,,,,,,an sv 1000 is on my list too but there few and far between ,,,well up my way at least ,:confused:

If you fancy a 1000cc twin, then have a look at Aprilia RSV and Falco. You get a lot of bike for not much money, you can get an '04 Falco for around £3k. Dealers may be asking £4k but they aren't shifting at all, private sale is even worse! I've had mine for sale for 2 years and had very little serious interest. If you do look at a Falco, bear in mind the rear shock is crap, but the Mille Factory unit fits straight on(can be bought off e-bay for about £250) An RSV will cost about £4.5k for an '05 model and that's the kitted "factory" spec. For bonkers riding look at a Tuono, they are seriously mental!
I've had my Falco for 2 1/2 years and the only thing to fail was the speedo sender after the first few weeks. Build quality is superb, looks are great (except the "quirky" Falco) and they are fairly comfy for longer distances. And they go like **** off a shovel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:-D |

i've always had a soft spot for Firestorms and tbh i was a bit disappointed when i rode a friends bike recently - though it's nice to have the twin it just lacked excitement, and wasn't anywhere close to my gixxer 600. Also the v limited tank range is really annoying!

Far be it for me to criticize a Honda, but...
The VTR is very old now, and it shows. Ride it hard and you may get 80 to the tank. All the rest is typical Honda (which is good). |

Firestorm lovely bike for the big V twin lovers. Ability to do longer than long wheelies is superb. My main point to consider would be that if you are one who likes to get a bit "frisky·" in the twisty stuff, the ground clearance of the Firestorm might be something you want to think about.

I gotta say Viper certainly got a hustle on this afternoon coming down the A30, whatever it may be, its no slouch through long sweeping bends.

What is it you want your new bike to do? If it is just a toy and you want a v-twin then surely you can't look past an sp-1 or sp-2? My brother in law has an sp-1 and loves it to bits, the sp-2's are considered the better road bike and they are as fast as you'll ever ask for and handle like a 600. What kind of budget do you have?

If you buy a FireYawn, you can always upgrade the front forks with early 'Blade RWU units. Keep the 17" wheel tho...

The VTR is quick, it does handle well in the right hands (which is not always mine:-D ) and will keep you alert looking for petrol stations;) All in all the VTR is a good step up from an SV650 and you can have some fun on the straights and twisties but as Fizz said its at its best in long sweeping corners, What more do you want:cool: |
