Fell off.

On my way into work this morning, as I pulled into a petrol station, lost control of the bike and down I went.:(

Bike seems ok. Managed to ride it in to work.

Good way of attracting male attention. THREE very dishy blokes came to my rescue.:smt060

Blame it on these new boots I've had just over a week. They are quite heavy and so I'm quite clumsy in them.

Sorry to here, but good luck with the guys :D
Petrol stations do tend to have a lot of diesel on the ground so watch out!

Re: Fell off.

Well it sounds as if no permanent damage was done to you or the bike. :o

But don't expect all the knights in shining armour to be dishy though. It could have been Luckypants, Plowsie, or even me.:shaking2:

Hope it hasn't dampened your enthusiasm for the weekend.:drink:

Sorry to hear this. I find I'm clumsy in new boots/gloves till I break them in and they flex a bit. I actually fell off the pegs on my bike twice on my boots before I'd worn them in! :)

Dan 05-09-07 11:53 AM

Re: Fell off.

Never mind Melody - anything that's broken on the bike can be fixed easily enough - you can't.

But in this case sounds like you were lucky :D

Plus, you did the right thing and got straight back on. Well done!

I know how you feel the only time I ever droped a bike was because of boots. I have a pair of alpinestars and the soles are very hard on them so offer little grip especially in the wet.
Put my foot down and it just went straight out from under me right in front of a bus stop and about 20 people, being a dishy bloke myself :smt042 no one came to my rescue.
Luckly it was a naked bike so no damage done (except to my ego)
Would have been a whole lot worse had it been my sv.

Anyway, chin up!!!

Cheers you guys.

I'm not looking forward to riding home. Now that the adrenaline's wearing off, I'm starting to feel a little anxious.

I'll probably be alright. I'll just remind myself of the three hunks :smt055

Thanks Luckypants. ;)

How many times have I told you! Diving boots for diving, riding boots for riding! You'll never make professional.

Glad to hear you're OK, it's never fun but you seem to have mastered the useful skill of falling off without destroying yourself or your bike.

Ouch :( Sorry to hear this, hope you're feeling ok. I had a little wobble coming into the station the other night and ended up getting my foot caught in one of the pump pipes as I was pulling alongside - ungraceful comedy wobbling ensued but I like to think I came through it looking manly and cool.... :D

Morning all.
Good to hear you're alright Melody.....The same thing happened to me many years ago when dispatching, it was tiddling with rain, & the front wheel shot out from under me. did I get a handful of Keira Knightly lookalikes rushing to my aid? Did I hell! All I got was a C**K in a van hooting me so he could get to the diesel pump.:D:D.
There are definitely advantages to being a Lady biker eh;)

Cheers.

Suppose i had better tell you all about my little incident, I will post here in the vain hope that it gets missed and no one reads it!!

Happened at the weekend, first "off" since passing, a mighty 5 weeks now :)

I was just out having fun and ended up going down a dead end that ended with two houses, So attempting to turn around in one of the driveways.. hit an unexpected slope and down i went! bike on top of me, revving its ars$e off, hit the kill switch and looked around hoping no one saw, got out from underneath then wondered how the hell am i going to pick the bu$$er up!!

Well i managed it, must have been the adrenaline!

To be honest i am glad i got the first one out of the way!!

Glad to see you "back in the saddle" :)
Sometimes it's the best way. Don't let it get you down. Just put it in the "learn from" section of your memory ;)
Gotta say that after both my "offs" I've been keen to get back on the bike again ASAP. That's not to say I've just jumped back on and not learnt anything.

I've learnt that if you're going to filter then do so with EXTREME caution.

I've learnt that if you're going to fly around bends then you'd better be able to stop in time when something unexpected appears on or around the bend.

I flew round a bend and found ... an unmarked junction  so I have no excuse  I didn't know the roads I was riding so should have taken more care.

Pete

Ah yes, I did something similar recently, dropped the damn thing trying to do a U-turn outside my building. I have no idea how I managed to get it oily side down again but my shoulders and back were aching for about three days afterwards!
