Eviltwin has sort of broken down on the way home (in Hungerford) and is awaiting recovery.

Well, I dropped my bike in the Petrol Station on Friday. Oh and of course, I got nicked by the old bill today !

From what I understand all that needed doing was replacing a nut (at the top of a header pipe) that had worked itself loose and fallen off.

Ah cool, at least it was repairable, and ET is ok...

My incident report...:

Just checked the bike when I got back, and there are chain marks on the LHD of the rear bodywork which I didn't notice before, looks like one of the links flicked up and indented the tail unit. If it was 2 inches further left, I could be picking bits of link out of my ar*e tonight....:( Lcky escape me thinks!!!

Got me new chain and sprockets today. Fitted the sprockets, waiting till tomorrow to put the chain on, then hopefully out for a ride!

Hope this one doesn't fling off (sorry about peppering your visor with bits of chain last weekend Phil!)

Its only an AGV - arent they italian visors, made out of cheapo plastic - cost about £2.50?:D

For those of you who are interested, it seems that the chain snapped at the split link. I remember seeing it on the chain when I was cleaning it, and not thinking much about it, as I knew bu**er all about chains, but after speaking to B & C Express, they said they don't supply chains for anything over a 125cc with a split link, as they consider them too dangerous...i.e. risk of them coming off....:smt100

So are you still fitting it yourself? I hear that properly mushrooming a rivet is not that easy, and the right tool for the job (3 in 1 break/press/rivet) is about £50.

You're right about split links though, anything over about 60bhp and you should really be using rivets.

Agreed, if there's no safer alternative like recovery or fixing it properly and assuming you ride like a :cat: and not stress it there's every chance it'll stay on.

Bought a rivet tool from B & C - you are right - it was 50 quid. Just fitted it all - looks ok, only prob is that using the rivet tool, you align it over the rivets, and hammer the end to mushroom them. Thing is, the very edges of the rivets have started to split :( - not sure if this is ok to use now - have been careful fitting it, but as the rivet mushrooms, it goes really thin around the edge. There still seems to be plenty of rivet over the side plate - but good ol Haynes says if the rivet splits, you should replace it!!!

Here a pic...let me know what you think guys - I'm not going out on the bike till I know its ok - not after last weekend!

and here is the end of the rivet tool, which makes contact with the rivet - the 'V' shape causes the rivet to thin out towards the edge - maybe Ive over-hit it??

Wasn't riding that hard!!! Mind you, I wish I knew last week what I know today about chains...Could have saved a brown pant moment..

and although i was in front of you at the time, i think a bit might have also damaged my head fairing

No - I think it may have been the backdraft from Vicksters farts that caused some melting / splitting of the fairing...

OI!! There was nowt wrong with the food. I can't help it if Hovis has a weak constitution...

Might have to get some personal liability insurance to protect me from you lot!

first things we learned back at... Stanford Law... was the modern proliferation of food poisoning claims against wealthy, private homecookers. In fact, if one were so inclined, one could make quite a lucrative law practice on little else. How was everyone feeling ?

Well I didn't eat the food but I saw pictures and have been feeling funny ever since.

Wouldn't mind putting a claim in for food poisoning if your willing to represent me!!
