i hit 140 mph (225.3 km/h) in my k7 last night
 

yes i thought the the top speed was 133 mph but i hear the k7's can hit 140 cuz of ECU tuning .. i know i did last night on a straight away over a bridge.. maybe the speedo is off but it said 140 mph and i have the naked model non s version.. my k7 is stock btw and i tried this before on a 2000 model carburated and could only hit 130

funnily enough my Triumph Thunderbird Sport can do that to, great for down the pub talk, but I'd refrain from racing any supersport bikes mind :D

it could have been a optomistic speedo...or over reving on standard gearing. (but i bet it was fun)...

My K5 indicated £148 on a runway, a while back.....
My uncles K3 Gixxer hit 180 lol, :D

K7 - it's going to be the twin spark shenanigans rather than ECU mapping (IMHO) that makes your bike so much faster than all of ours ;)

I dunno... the K6 doesn't have the the twin sparkies (as far as I know...) and it has read 148 on the clock (with a lighter mate on it) and I have seen 147 on it, but then it has been tinkered with a little :)

(Disclaimer: Yes I know the speedo speed is always over the 'actual' speed...)

its funny how at that speed.. you can feel the heat off the exhaust on your right calf muscle.. you would think you wouldnt feel it but you can!!

I can redline my k6 is 6th :) with standard S gearing. It's bloody scary though!

I had 130mph from my curvy, flat road, bit windy, and with a 6ft 13st weight slowing it down!

The small variances depend on the rear tyre size and its 360deg traveled distance and also the front too, carefully selecting your tires can account for the speedo diffrences.

Also some engines are stronger from the factory than others, other factors to consider are fuel load, your weight and the kit you have on at the time as big winter textiles that cause drag vs tight fitting leathers for less drag etc etc, in/decline in road, tail wind etc etc it will just go on and on with all the variances.

So ive seen 140 on my curvey once and it was perfect conditions for it realy, but my curr bike has seen far more on a priv drag strip. You want more speed get another bike.

I had a Yam TW125 (13BHP) that would do 140 on the corners, especially on mini roundabouts

got rid of it only cause it was waaaaay to slow for me and the polis were givin me hassle from time to time when they eventually caught up wiv me

I once had a BSA Bantam that did 120ft/sec squared.

Yep, I'm 6ft and 15 1/2 stone and I've seen 134. Because of a recent thread like this I checked it out with my Sat Nav. At an indicated steady 100mph on my k6 my sat nav (I think you guys over there just call it simply "GPS") reads 90. In the car it reads 95. Meaning it's about 10% out on the K6 and 5% out on the car. So my 134 was actually more like 121 mph, I've been quicker therefore in my Mondeo TDCi. Your 140 could have been 126 or possibly even less.

My faired k6 indicates 140mph on speedo ( on closed roads officer ) but when it was set up on dyno their equipment measured it at 133mph, so speedo's aren't always accurate:|

138mph indicated from a 26K mile old naked 650K3 down a long gradient on the M1. Admittedly I had to crawl under the paintwork on the tank to keep myself out of the wind but it got there. I so desperately wanted to see 140 on the clock but it just wouldn't manage it.
