GM Xmas dinner

As everyone else is planning.

Any suggestions for a venue, date?

How about same place as last year (Golden Retriever) and next week?

Ok, not next week. Early December (before the 13th), on a Thursday to replace one of our meets.

Oh yeah, I'm just suggesting, I'm not sorting it out. I will leave that to the organised or bossy types. ;)

It worked well last year, so Golden Retriever on the 6th of December starting at 7:30pm? If people are cool with that we should start to get some numbers together and book the table in that case.

Ok, Guildford would be good. I'm putting my foot down for NOT the 13th. The only Thursday I can do in December is the 6th due to other commitments.

Actually thinking about it, you can hold it on the 13th but I won't be there. :p

TVSF don't have enough people to hold a Xmas do, we could mingle with them for that night if they wanted.

Brittania? if they don't shut the kitchen early for Dan.

Well if someone wants to scout out some places go for it, the Britannia doesn't really have a big eating area like a gastropub or restaurant.

The Anchor would probably have enough seats but thats in Woking.

The idea behind the golden retriever is that its in the no mans land between the TV lot and GM.

Re: GM Xmas dinner

have we got enough time to start a poll remember last year it took forever to sort out with everyone suggesting places then me and falc ended up driving round getting menus and prices together

i figure as last years place was OK lets go back

and can we have it on the 6th please Law is one of our regular members and turns up most weeks it would be a shame if he were to miss it

lets face it we aren't gonna please everyone are we

They'll close early just for me is what they'll do. Swines.

Don't mind where it is. The only date I won't be able to make is the 8th and the 16th. I think we should vote on where it is, at least we can pretend we're a democracy!

Golden Retriever is poss a bit far away unless the TV lot want to join in.

The Anchor is only 7 miles down the road.

Britannia may be a bit small but easy to get to.

How about one of the pubs in Worplesdon, The one we used to frequent or the other one down the road? Anyone been in the Cricketeers as I pass it a lot but never go in.

Why don't we just vote on it?

Anchor, Retriever, Brittania or alternative offering. We could be here till xmas otherwise.

Go on Dan, make a poll (and make sure you choose the option so that you can see who voted for what).

Law 29-09-07 10:13 PM

Re: GM Xmas dinner

Yes of course there will be a poll, just wondering what the choices in the poll could be. You can't really put alternate on the poll as it could be anything (something stupid like Wales.)

There's a TGI's in the centre of Guildford, I wonder if TGI's still do a yummy Oreo alcoholic thing (I think it was a mint ice cream cocktail but it was yonks ago and I had lot of it so my memory's a bit hazy)

Anyway poll is a sensible idea, no rush though, we still have 2-3 months btw.

There is Worplesdon Place which we have been to a couple of times, but i think its a case of book now as it gets really busy.... although i'd be up for a TGI xmas meal

bet is expensive though Dan didn't you complain about the burgers and chips there or was it the price of a drink i can't remember

lets vote

and who is going to ring round for the menus?

I'm with Law TGIs sounds good in fact they all sound good lol

falc 30-09-07 03:33 PM

Re: GM Xmas dinner

Ok, poll has been added as per your options Law, lets run this poll for a week and then book it so were not too late.

Also the date the 6th is most likely the date were doing it so pen that in regardless, it doesnt conflict with other meets and means people from the GM can attend.

Law 01-10-07 01:27 PM

Re: GM Xmas dinner

err.. I'm not even sure if I can make the 6th now  I shall try to though.
