Music to run to

I've started running recently and I've found it really helps to listen to music whilst running.

I've found that some music is better than others and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of music that's good to run to.

I just made up a playlist on my ipod of all my personal favourites, singing along makes the time pass faster.

You need to make sure the tempo of the music is not too quick. Have something fast a pacey and you'll run faster than you want to and end up knackered too quickly.

Well that's the way it is for me anyway. I have to be very selective on the music I listen too.

I know what you mean. I find the slightly faster dancey stuff good, faitless is my current fave. Just wanted some other ideas.

I find Burn by Nine Inch Nails is good. It's a slow build up followed by a bit where I can't help but be flat out, no matter how tired I am. Great for that final burn at the end of a workout!

Dance music even if you dont like it, trancy stuff as it tends to keep the same BPM all the way and if mixed right will seem seamless.

I hapen to like it so ca nrun with it, however i even had a mate who hated it but said it would be good to run with as its a regular beat.

download the mp3's of the belgian "start to run" program here

the playlists are in the pdf link about 1/4th down the page. You do have to take the dutch pep-talks of Evy Gruyaert  in between the songs with it...

Nark Ronsons Album and Lily allen Album with some ministry of sound CD's thrown in for good measure.

I walked around 12 miles in ibiza along a cliff face on the quite north east side of the island........whilst my missus was sat on the beach worrying where the hell I had gone and was contemplating calling for help ......I completely lost track of time.

No music for me as it has an inpact on the pace. I tend to rub "accordingly to the beat".

as its getting darker at night,(no one will see my red face) i was thinking about taking up running (well more of a wobbly really)

never done running or jogging (im built for comfort not speed) what is the best way to get started? Thought it was bad for your knees? am I better going to treadmill? Just cant seem to let go the bars on the treadmill.

I'd not done running before a few weeks ago. I started off running for one minute then walking for one minute and then repeating (did about 20 minutes which was about 1.6 miles). Yesterday I ran 3 miles (with some walking) for the first time.

I think this website has some good advice and tips etc.

It is bad for your knees, I would have thought running on a treadmill would be better than the pavement but I can't be bothered with going to a gym.

I need to get proper running shoes, must do that this weekend.
