A fair old bit of turbulance once, but that is hardly riveting
also why do lots of people hate take-offs and landings? its the only interesting part! |

I've been in a stall in a 100 seat airliner.
Sound unlikely but it was part of a two hours customer acceptance flight and they go through everything in the Flight Test Schedule to prove capability. |

Played throw the invisible bouncy ball and catch it in the sick bag. A very amusing game that seem ed to annoy everyone on the plane except me and my mates! :-D

I flew to scotland and back from gatwick in a 707 or airbus (cant remember) with just 3 perople on board, and 2 of them were the pilots.
It was a mail run, and I bummed a ride for the fun of it. |

Been on a plane, with a pet land crab stowed away in a plastic "ferroro rocher" box.
Only prob was that it was a night flight (being only 12 at the time), I naturally fell a sleep and the thing crawled away!! Did find it again.... by spotting a woman stood hunched over on her seat looking at the floor in absolute terror, about to scream. Hmmm. prob sounds too far fetched :p |

front tyre burst on landing on a dc-10 flying into Lagos airport...dont really remember it much as I was only around 4 or 5 at the time.....
no injuries, sounds a lot worse than it was... |

...I always notice the way the pressure in the cabin seems to make your pores open up. You can squeeze out some lovely whiteheads you never knew were there while in the loo!
I mean, what else is there to do on a long haul? |

Sat next to a 2 year old once that cried 10hrs straight from Hong Kong to Auckland - he fell asleep just as we landed. Little rat spat his dummy whilst getting on the plane - i had 5 spares on the way home.
2 more - lady next to me freaked had an anxiety attack and fainted - doctor was paged and oxy was out. And the last odd incident was on a 737 coming into land and then pulling back up real hard just as the wheels hit the ground - everyone was sh*tting themselves (me too). |

landing at zakinthos in Greece it sounded like the pilot couldn't get the landing gear down? kept hearing banging and bumping underneath and he kept trying to approach the runway, my wife was getting a tad worried.

I was on a test flight where thy were showing me how a spiral spin starts. All the warnings were flashing and shouting "danger danger", the altitude was dropping super quick and the spinning was total disorientating. Great fun! :)

My Sister.
On a flight to Paris (her first time on a plane) she had wound herself up so much with worry about flying that she was crying as we were taking off. Her face was red with tears streaming down her face and snot coming out of her nose. Just as we got airborne she started to realize just how stupid she was being and started to relax a bit as she accepted that we were not plunging to our doom and started to smile with relief. But even as she was smiling looking relived and special, she still continued to cry with sheer terror. I have never before or since seen anyone display two distinct polar emotions at the same time. She was 16 at the time. |

i managed to hussle a complelty free 1st class ticket to the states! :cool:
when my brother went on a plane for the 1st time he was really excited and wanted to watch the take off, but he fell asleep, and my parents couldnt wake him (he was about 3/4) and he slept all the way through the flight only to wake up after the plan had taxied in after landing, to ask the question 'are we going to take off soon!?' :) been in a few dilberate stalls in 2 man planes and gliders, barrel rolls and loop the loops, but they just make me feel sick! lol |

I would really hate to be sat next to someone who was a real nervous flyer. You know the type that grabs your arm and sinks in their nails at the slightest bit of turbulence. I am an ok flyer, I just find it soooo boring but someone like I mentioned can easilly unsettle you.
Do you find flying like riding in an elevator? I NEVER speak to a stranger sat next to me or to anyone in a lift? |

Hmmm ... not sure that's the right place to share it with people but .... once ... I sh*t myself on the plane ... wearing white City shorts ... priceless! Is that strange enough?

I had grabbed a last minute "crew" seat due to flight **** ups and the available empty seat, strange was the guy sitting across the aisle from me on a flight to Dubai. He seemed to be talking to himself. The returning cabin crew who was sat next to me had clocked him and commented on him to me.
Well he goes to the toilet and next thing holy hell breaks out. The off duty crew next to me jumps up, opens an overhead, grabs a fire extinguisher and kicks open the toilet door. He had only filled the toilet with paper and set fire to it. I had the job of restraining his travel companion until such time as they could fit them both with cable ties. Amazing how the training kicked for the crew who had pushed me out of the way to get to the locker with the extinguisher shouting to me "hold him". Most disturbing was a flight to Paris, I bumped into my FD in the lounge and was chatting over a coffee about how much the company spent on airfares and he casually commented that statistically we must be due to loose someone in a plane crash. The flaps stuck on that flight and the landing was aborted, we came round again and the pilot had to compensate for a lack of flaps with power and came in very hard. All the trolleys broke away and went flying down the aisle. I honestly thought that I was going to be that statistic |

My missus is the worse flyer out there, she is exactly as pedrosa describes.
I have had a fair few crap flights though. 1 - Woman comes over the tannoy saying she was the pilot and she was just as good as the men......that was my worse landing i have EVER had.....she then came on the tannoy and appologised and claimed atleast she normally was.....pure hilarious. 2 - Nothing worse on a flight than drunk idiots....Ibiza this year sat near us was two men who were going to ibiza for just the night.....they were absolutely hammered and kept screaming the plane was going to crash, which when your missus isnt the best flyer, it isnt helpfull |

coming back from amsterdam some lads in front of us were saying they couldnt wait to get home to have a good scrub !!! lol obv wot they had been up to lol :)

I have been in heavy turbulence and looked down the length of the plane, and actually seen the fuselage twisting and flexing.
Or in a turbo prop that landed on two wheels (the front and side ones), everyone leaned, and the pilot just waited for what felt like ages for the 3rd wheel to settle before he braked. Hard. I was on one flight, that I think was more or less the last one into the airport, that came in at an insane angle to compensate for very stormy cross winds, and just as we touched down straightened it out, I was basically getting the approach view looking out the side of the plane the pilot should have been getting looking forwards. |

My sister tossed her cookies from air sickness ? before she even got on the plane.
Ok it was a DC 3 and run by the air air force. Asked by the helio pilot to go for a flight, when we are about 3000 ft up he say's can you hear that "funny" sound in the gear box. Not really any more over my a**. The gearbox failed 5 hours later with total main rotor lock. lucky he was 20 ft off the ground. even then he had full rudder and just tossed it on the deck. I flew from ft Lauderdale to the Bahamas a few years ago on a gummen float plane. You could smell the salt water rot on the inside ? 2 very sweet girls driving it. So chatted away and asked them over to the boat for drinks and a meal out. 2 weeks later the wing folded off 100 ft after take off. 16 dead. same plane/run/crew. The boat arrived 2 weeks early so i would have been on the same flight. Still hunts me a bit as we got on so well. I watched them take off and crash. |

I flew to Cyprus earlier in the year with 4 other blokes for a weeks trail riding and we were all sat on the plane letching at a gorgeous girl in her mid 20's who was with her family. one of the guys (Chris) sat next to me leans over and says to me "If that was your daughter you'd still be bathing her, eh"? one of the other guys 2 rows away looks at Chris and says ............."your ears havent popped yet have they chris"
needless to say i was absolutely ****ing myself laughing. the girls mother was giving Chris the daggers for the rest of the flight.:D |

I told everyone to shut up whilst they went thru the emergency thingeys, refused to take my safety belt off for the whole flight and then shouted at everyone who got up and walked around and told them they were unbalancing the plane!!! Eventually the stewardess asked me if I had a flying phobia and insisted i go into the cockpit to meet the pilot.... BIG MISTAKE.... he turned round to say hi and i realised he didn`t have his hands on the steering wheel :smt115 Finally landed 2 hours later and i`ve never been so glad to get my feet on firm ground.... if god had intended us to fly he`d have given us wings!!! |

This is what happened to my mate.....
He was flying from San fran to London to coem home for xmas a few years back..... He was sat next to this guy who insisted on showing him terrisot videos of people exected iraq by AL_Kida....he said the content was distusbing and nasty we talked about it once, never mentioned it again. I was flying ito the Us a few years ago, the plane landed it hit the run way and almost flipped over that really scared me, the only other time I felt like was when i was once when I raced boats, the boat flipped and I got caught under rigging and couldn't get air, that freaked me out. |

Lived next to an American family who were moving back to work over there.He was something to do with their government.They put back their flight to the next day for some reason.The one they didnt get on was the Lockerbie plane.
Ive never believed the authorities didnt know about that bomb. |
