The ultimate deflection

Dorries attack on the BBC was not enough to deflect the partying debacle (another one announced today) so the ultimate doomsday deflection was released.

It looks like Gavin Williamson will get a knighthood.

His credentials (any bias is purely intentional :) )
Suggesting the UK use troops to solve knife crime
Proposing the addition of machine guns to tractors to address an army equipment crisis.
Getting heckled by Siri on his own phone during a Commons speech on Syria
Telling a press conference that Russia should go away and shut up
Criticising how parents managed homeschooling during lockdown
Sacked as defense minister under May's government for leaking sensitive information. (he denied it).
Introduced an algorithm for assessing students A-level results which allocated very low grades (scrapped later).

Re: The ultimate deflection

For 'services to chaos and incompetence'* perhaps? He would fully deserve that!

Re: The ultimate deflection

Williamson is as thick as molasses, but I suspect he knows where some bodies are buried, hence the knighthood to buy his silence.

Re: The ultimate deflection

Apparently there is a 14th century word to describing what the ministers are doing: "sparple".

It means: to deflect unwanted attention from one thing by making a big deal of another.
