Good route into wales from bristol
I'll be coming over the severn bridge with my dad weekend and wondered if anyone could recommend some good roads from there.
Appreciate any advice! ;) |

Just avoid the m40, not too bike friendly ;)

Re: Good route into wales from bristol
Old severn bridge (chepstow, but not into town) then wye valley to monmouth (stopping at tintern), or turn off to usk just before chepstow racecourse after suzuki dealer, through to usk, then on to abergavenny. From there the road to Builth is nice if not busy.
Or go to Monmouth then back down to Raglan and then back road to Abergavenny then on north to Builth or over to Lladovery way. |

Re: Good route into wales from bristol
The A4061 Hirwaun to Bridgend, can be good fun, and always a challenging journey. If you go towards Abergavenny from Monmouth/Raglan take the old road not the boring A40.

Re: Good route into wales from bristol
Would that be the b4223? Is that a good road then?

Re: Good route into wales from bristol
No. It's got no number on my autoroute, named Clytha Road then the B4598. It runs parallel to the dualled A40. The B4233 is a little further north and has more single lane sections.
